Great stuff. This is also a great thread.

I'd go with the barn door on the back, otherwise they look too much like Estates for my liking.

Keep it up smile

Thanks for looking Alex.

I still have the barn door as an option so might spray it at some point.

After spending the time on the metal doors though I'm going to run with them for a while.

Its a shame I had to get rid of it really but I tried to peel it off intact but it just came away in strips.

I'm sure you could have one re-made. I could have done it for you, but I sold my Vinyl kit a while back.

Some more progress forwards and backwards again over the last week. The doors are now all in primer apart from the one I need to re-skin. I've got the Friday off next week so going to get the yellow on them and start getting the new skins on.

Meanwhile, I've been taking another look at the heel board and come to the conclusion that I now need to take the near side sill off too. frown There is so much material sandwiched between the over sill that it might as well come off now.

This is what I pulled out from just the bit I could get to with the screw driver.

Looking into the void between the inner and outer sill.

The ever growing hole in the heel board.

Also this is where the rear door locking bar attaches to the load deck. It's all bashed and dented so not sure what to do with it as I can't find a repair section that fits.

Getting it ready for paint by christmas is starting to look ever so optimistic.

the rear van step is avalible as a repair section, looking at the ground down weld, id guess your van has already had one!

I think your right Guru.

The line does seem to run along the width of the step and also it does look like its been overlapped with the load deck and not joggled. I think I need to remove more of the paint and inspect how bad the repair is, as there was a lot of filler in that section I removed.

I'm aware that a door step repair section is available. However I think that the section I need is more of the load deck?

In your position I would be tempted to just spend a bit of time fabricating what you need from sheet metal.

So Friday saw me painting the door frames and the new skins.

Firstly I treated the inside of the rear door with a nice thick layer of under seal. I've noticed that the lower corner is going to need some attention also as it has rusted through.

Painted up

I then moved onto painting the door frames.

Topcoat

I'm having to spray them in the garage with the door shut to stop over spray, the lights not that great in there so they might be abit patchy. Didn't manage to get any pictures of the skins, the paint smog meant I couldn't see the end of the garage by the time I'd finished. Made it interesting when leaving the garage as I have an up and over door. Ended up commando rolling out, jumped up to shut the door, being followed by a massive plume of yellow, next doors not come round to complain that his black cars speckled yellow yet! so I think I'm safe.

Hoping to get some time again Weds so going to try and attach one of the skins.

Looks good mate.

Remember and take your time once you get to fitting the door skin its worth spending extra time on the to get the gaps looking good.

Went into the garage to have a look see at my psinting ability.

Really shows off the colour getting it down on a larger flat surface. The finish isn't bad i feel for very limited experience of painting flat panels, good enough for being mainly covered in door card anyway.

Russell - abit scared of doing it so I will be taking it very, very, very carefully. smile

Offered the door skins up to the frames tonight. Drivers side is good, passenger side not so good. Seems that the flange is to wide for the skin as it wont sit flat, think i need to gring the corner of the flange down slightly to give it a bit of room to move.
