Quandary solved. Mrs rejn decided that she quite liked this, and the dealer offered a sensible part-ex on the old one (!), so this is coming our way soon!

I'm really excited about it! My first ever diesel vehicle, too!
Love the look of both of them, if you are thinking about selling the old one privately would you drop me a line with details / cost please, have a family member looking for a good one

Not done much yet, other than clean the straw and mud out of the back... It may as well start half-clean!
superb - don't touch it - make sure it is spot on mechanically - very cool as it is!

I know this car well, did you purchase it mid-late last year? If so, I am very good friends with the guy who purchased it from.

I damned near bought this off of him but finances didn't quite work out at the time, I still regret not having it frown

Hi Ollie, I purchased it last April from a charming young guy down in Hertfordshire. I think his Dad had bought it and then given it to him. He was selling it to put his efforts into restoring an ex-army forward control Landrover.

I might be selling it in the next couple of months so, if you're still interested, let me know.

Tad dirty from Sunday.

I hosed out the intercooler and radiator today, as well as the underside and cleaned the door shuts as i had mud half way up the door rubbers inside. hehe

Yes, guilty as charged your honour. I do own a small bit of the Chase, but not that bit, Birches Valley. I was there with the landowner's permission.

I took it to a pay and play site, where I decided to do the black route, rather than the normal red route. Upshot was:

  • Snapped a spring hanger (easy to fix)
  • Snapped a parabolic spring (easy to fix, but £££)
  • Snapped a bit of the chassis (easy fix)
  • Bent a steering rod (easy to fix)
  • My mate pulled the handbrake on too tight and wrecked the linkages (cheap to fix, but the parts were proving damned hard to find, so we milled our own replacements
  • While it was on the ramp in the garage, both front wheel cylinders leaked out over the floor.
All in all, a few little things, but it has been a question of getting the parts in at the right time. Sadly, during all this, Chris the Landy Man, who looks after it, had to let his apprentice go, so he's been stacked with work and, as I don't desperately need it, I told him to fit me around other jobs.

Yup, that's the guy. A good friend of mine, hugely into his Land Rovers. Looking forward to getting to work on his 101.

Yes please, I would certainly be interested.

Ouch!
Mine was off the road for a month recently when the steering relay went - most of that time was spent trying to get the old relay casing out of the chassis until I gave in and rebuilt it in-situ

So, more of a Play and Pay site then?

Sadly, yes. I always joke that it costs me £20 to go there and £200 to fix everything afterwards. This time, it appears I was right frown
