Picked this bad boy up at the weekend. It's only broken down twice so far. (Starter motor and battery)
Replacing the 2.5td with a 300tdi soon so it actually goes above 50mph. It's a bit of a culture shock after my navara aventura but I wouldn't swap back!

It is currently getting the questionable accessories removed. I've decided to keep the roof lights and wire them up properly as they aren't connected to anything at the moment. The LED headlights are an acquired taste and are going and being replaced with WIPAC Crystal H4 units. The position lamps now all match - they were a mixture of RDX LED lights and normal bulbs.

It needs a good service and then it can go for MOT.

I was going to put them on eBay when I discover what make they are and if they are E marked or not.

Now that's my idea of a proper defender 90!

Can't see all the pictures though?

I don't normally comment on people's personal tastes, and each to their own and all that!

But my god that looks terrible, the way to run the looks of a fantastic car, that should just be standard as they come from the factory!

Well a Stage 1 isn't a 90, it should really have a 109" wheel base. Although LR did produce I think 6 88" Stage 1's.

Not sure what it is in the photo though, it's running Defender wheel spats and front wings. And the axles look the right width. So I'm guessing it's more likely an 88" coiler. So not a Stage 1 or a 90, but a hybrid.

He said stage 1 heads.... Not a series 1.

Do you go out of your way to disagree?

My bad.

But for reference Stage 1 (which he did say, just in a different context) is a Land Rover and isn't a Series 1.

A Stage 1 was the first V8 Land Rover built in the 1970's.

"Stage 1" in this context does not relate to the 109" with V8, but to the level the head has been modified 'tuned' in terms of performance improvement. Especially since vjj mentions it in the same sentence with a Kent cam, a modified camshaft also for performance improvement.

Yes, but that shouldn't get in the way of a good argument!
