Good find! Is it 6x6 or 6x4?Something called a Sandringham 6
Well my Land Rover ownership experience is going well. My Defender 90 won't pass an MOT. The only bit of rot that I couldn't find and it's on the A frame cross member that helps hold the rear tub on. I am getting a new galvanised chassis, but in the meantime, I have bought the cheapest, lowest milage diesel Discovery nearest to me with a full year's MOT for the winter while the defender is off the road.

Nice. I do fancy a TDV8 Autobiography but as with you, my Disco would stay!
An estimated £450 to get the old girl through the MOT and another year of life together with an awesome work horse for the winter shipping logs, rubbish, tip runs etc. Will dig out a recent piccy but we have had it since '99 and driven c. 155k miles in it - mrs doesn't want to get rid
Decided it was time to upgrade the 2006/7 TDV8. I had always fancied a supercharged as I've had a few jags with variations of that engine over the last few years (have 1 still), and decided the only justification for changing the TDV8 would be to go to the 5.0 supercharged engine with the newer dash etc..
So today I picked up this. Very impressed, the petrol engine fills in the performance lag that the turbos on the TDV8 inherently give. However, as I compare the two cars in the drive, the new one doesn't have all the toys and extras that my TDV8 Vogue SE has. However, for me most of those are nice to haves not requirements. But I must say, there's not a huge difference in real world performance, the TDV8 really is an impressive car.
All in all, pleased with the upgrade, a few years younger, a few miles less and should be good for a few years.
Just need to sell the TDV8 on now to recoup some of the cost!

A bit drastic swapping the chassis because there's a rotten bit on it? Or is the rest well patched?hidetheelephants said:

There are a few patches at the rear but the body would have to be lifted to get to the bit that needs doing anyway. The main rails are mainly OK - couple of small holes which could be patched, but the chances are that it will need lots more welding in the near future as it is looking thin in places.. I don't tend to do things by halves and I really want this car for a long time so it makes sense to me. The advantage is that I can either sell the Disco or even break it and keep important bits such as engine, gearboxes and axles. This little chap started as an Overfinch car, which came with a remap and interior refit but - most importantly - an auto conversion.
Sadly, it wasn't quite the ideal commuter car i imagined! It now has a Nene Overland Mustang engine conversion and has a 5 speed Mercedes Auto. It also has Fox shocks and AP brakes. It still doesn't go round corners or stop, but it's terrifyling rapid and sounds good

Where did you buy the Fox shocks from?Sadly, it wasn't quite the ideal commuter car i imagined! It now has a Nene Overland Mustang engine conversion and has a 5 speed Mercedes Auto. Prolinx revalved the ones on my Bowler 100" and transformed the ride and handling.
