I appear to have accidentally bought the D3 some underbody protection plates.
A guy on the Disco forum has bought a Disco4 with full Prospeed kit on it, rack, wheels and tyres, lift kit, under armour.
Likely over 5 grands worth of kit from the previous owner.
He didn't need any of it so removed it and has been selling bits of it off.
I appear to have got the Prospeed, sump plate, centre plate and rear diff guard. Brand new £1627.
To me. Much less than half that....

This should be fun to fit..
Is this better than the Mantec stuff that was fitted to G4 D3s then?A guy on the Disco forum has bought a Disco4 with full Prospeed kit on it, rack, wheels and tyres, lift kit, under armour.

That looks brilliant, a lady at work has got a P38 4.6 HSE and it's lovely. A real opulent way to travel even now, with that lovely refined rumble in the background. Seems strange parking my TVR next to it at work knowing they're powered by much the same engine. Have you had any issues with it or has it been pretty trouble free?Coincidentally, Mrs Digga and I were following a P38 on Sunday in a very similar shade of green to RetroWheels and she said "that's an old one", to which I replied, "yes, but I'd have another of those, best car I've had". Reckon they will become a classic. Here's my old one:
They're too unloved to be a classic - even as an ardent green oval fan, I have to admit the reliability and lifespan of certain components is utterly dire. You guys obviously had good ones, but the amount of lemons out there is frightening. I avoided ever owning one, but several of my friends have and all have soon got rid after cutting their losses
Certain people would also say that it looks like a metrocab - and I have to say that it is just a bit too plain for my taste.
The RRC is a well deserved classic, and I reckon the L322 will be too (I love mine) but I think the P38 is destined to be the Morris Marina of Range Rovers.

Mums had a classic lse soft dash, a p38 30th(?) anniversary model and I own a early l322 td6.Certain people would also say that it looks like a metrocab - and I have to say that it is just a bit too plain for my taste.

By far the best is the l322, then the classic and miles behind is the p38 which was just a turd, got parted out eventually.

You don't have to look to far for current 'classics' that were once unloved tat. That's how it can go.ChemicalChaos said:

AFAIK, the P38 is no more or less unreliable than the Classic.ChemicalChaos said:

IMHO, a black L322 looks more like a MetroCab than a MetroCab - more so than the P38 - although I don't actually mind them. I actually liked the P38's lack of bling and thought the later cars, like mine, looked superb. And don't forget (I think there still) is a Morris Marina owner club, so even they're loved. OK, so later Classics also had the complex air suspension, but none of them ever had the myriad of cutting-edge (readrone to failure) ECUs, nor the cracking 4.6 blocks. The P38 reminds me of the Aston Martin Lagonda - simply too far ahead of its time and too ambitiously packed with electronics that were still in the teething stages of development

When the L322 came out I thought 'wow'! An absolute triumph....
Then when that was superseded, I thought - what a clumsy old brute (still love them) and looked at the new ones and thought 'wow' they have really nailed it this time.....

I like P38s a lot (and I can only remember one of my father's going wrong), but the L322 in its original form is a properly great design (as is the Discovery 3).
Somewhere in the depths of PH is my assessment of both when I owned them concurrently. I can't remember what I wrote now. They are almost like completely different cars, but in a good way. The L322 is so well done, so well made, so capable, so reassuring, but the P38 has what I can only really remember and describe as a quintessential quality Britishness to it. I did like the P38 although it developed electrical/electronic gremlins towards the end.Just need an L405 now for the full house!
Seriously though, I've had everything you can imagine working on the farm including actual Jeeps!!!
Having spent way more than I should have on rechassising this old girl, new gearbox, diffs, suspension, roof (2nd hand) brakes, lines, actually.... Virtually everything except the body, wheels and interior... I will say no more than... EVERYTHING else was rubbish compared to how these machines do their work.... Killing it off was nothing short of nuts and I'll take anyone's money they'll be back in production within 18 months exactly as was.....
I'll never be without one again!
