My Dad's 88" Series One in the garage for some TLC:
Replace oil seals on the transfer box
Change rear differential for a Quaife ATB
Replace crap indicator switch for a Tex-magna one
Fit a better (still original type) steering wheel
It is a perky little truck having an ACR cylinder head and SU carburetter on it's 2286 engine. It works every week and daily in winter months so has earned a rest and some attention now that the shooting season is over.

Thank you CY88, do you frequent the Series One Club website at all?
I like the photographs you publish on here, especially of the 80"
Cheers! I am signed up on the LRSOC, but not a very regular visitor. They kindly chose one of my photos for the cover of their online calendar this year though, which I was chuffed about I like the photographs you publish on here, especially of the 80"
Nice old girl just as it should be

Some of the running gear is non-original (it has later 52" track axles and the 2286 I mentioned) but better for it to be running and working than being recycled into a Eurobox. It is nice to drive too making a pleasant contrast to my Bowler and TDi 110 Station Wagon. I've got the two differentials in my garage ready to swap the Quaife ATB (which was in the rear of the Bowler running a 3.5:1 ratio) onto the 4.7:1 ratio rear out of this Series One, all the bits are ready for spanner twirling but I keep finding reasons not to venture into the cold this past week :-(
If that's as solid underneath as it looks on top. You have won a watch!
Took the back diff out a R reg D1 a few weeks ago. 107k on the clock and the jack went straight through the sill.
Entire floor pan was made of rust held together with carpet...
The roof gutter had holes eaten into it all the way along both sides. Was a complete mess of a car.
I do like the D1 for its clean shape but getting a good one is getting VERY hard to do now.
