Cheers pal, seems worth while then...
Mate just filled his D3. 24.38 mpg, which is an improvement over the 20-22 usual.
This included the same off road day I was in, his car can be seen in one of my pictures.

The other possible benefit of the clean is, with all the carbon and general crap removed, glow plugs should hopefully be easier to change.
Disco Mikey is going to attempt mine on Tuesday along with some other work inc a box flush so will report back.
It cost me £90 to get it cleaned.

hehe 3 canoes...which elicited 2 conversations and 1 "bloody hell" at Liverpool docks waiting for the ferry...
Which racks and bars are you using? I've been looking at the Thule canoe carriers.

Here's my new toy:

I've decided to blog my progress (or lack of it) at http://onegrandlandy.wordpress.com so I can look back and see just how stupid it can be to buy a vehicle unseen from eBay!

Have you got differing wheels front and back or is it the camera angle? The fronts look a wider rim.

Just the standard bars mate, nowt special and placed as far apart as poss. The middle canoe was still in its box so was a good bracing point for the others. It was very solid and didn't move once it had been strapped down.

Our 2012 Disco XS. On g/box number 2 and starter motor number 2. Taken just South of Nairn on a wee explore. Not done anything serious with it yet, not had a companion to tug me out...

What I thought was glowplugs, is either a failing battery or a leaking injector causing it.
So we didn't change them.

I DO however, have this fitted...

So car looks like this now.

Have you got spacers behind those wheels?

Nope, Just standard wheels.

They do stick out nicely in the arches which the D3 wheels don't.
May have to put spacers on the D3 wheels to get them to sit right when i swap back.
