Fitted and wired up.
Will get redone soon but for now it's ideal.
Makes such a difference to seeing in the dark!

Fun. Though I trust it also does red and sweeps from side to side.
What's the curious object between your NS headlamp and the A-bar? Another set of LEDs?
Looking at it, I think the LED light bar was too bright for the camera and the "object" is some kind of distortion on the photo. What's the curious object between your NS headlamp and the A-bar? Another set of LEDs?

First 4x4.
A '97 4.0SE P38.
Absolute bargain, came with 11 months MOT, and 5 18" alloys with new General Grabber AT2's.
I figured I needed a winter V8 as the TVR doesn't get used much in winter, and seeing as I have a Hybrid Co. Car I need to make sure I'm using my fair amount of carbons
It's funny isn't it?
The P38 has long been the ginger step-child of the Land Rover product range but I think it's time is coming. A straight, unmolested one in dark green or dark blue is beginning to look very classy and under-stated. As they move over from every day cars to cosseted toys, the reliability issues will niggle less and, one hopes, a vibrant specialist community will spring up around them
Snorkel is next on the list.
Have some more bushes and a sticking back calliper to change first.
Sadly it doesn't have red, ( or blue ) light's in it as well.
The thing at the headlight is actually the LED reflection on the phones lens.. it's THAT bright.
Already experimented with driving in total darkness with just the bar lit. The headlights make almost no change to the amount of light you can see.

Absolutely, an early HSE in Ardennes or Epsom Green is an appealing thing. Shouldn't have let that 630R get away (even if it was white).Edited by NomduJour on Monday 3rd November 12:32

I sold my p38 as it was getting on and wanted a landrover again. Test drove this low mileage FL2 with only 23k on the clock and really enjoy driving it. Had it mapped and it is fairly nippy and perfect for towing duty's. ( saving a mates Subaru after a diff fire!!!)
Mainly used to tow my wee bayliner 160
Sorry not the best shot.

Not bad as such, just a bit tedious and drawn out in the end. God knows how people turn these round in a weekend, as every step of reassembly has been a process of offer-up, remove, adjust, offer-up, remove, fit seals, fit part, screw/bolt in place.I'm now in a battle of wits with the ABS, which just doesn't want to provide a firm brake pedal. Got clear fluid all round (lots of it, I've sent three litres through it now) and no froth out of the ABS module unions, but the pedal still goes straight to the floor.
I know there is a Testbook procedure for an ABS bleed but reading around it seems debatable whether it's a genuine requirement or just Land Rover's quick method for dealers to pressurise the system for an otherwise conventional bleed.
Either way, I'm now looking at trailering the bloody thing to my local indy just so they canTestbook it in order to eliminate that as the source of the problem. (Plus I've had it with the sight, smell and above all the taste of fecking brake fluid)

Well I've now owned mine a week yesterday, so I suppose I had better add a few pictures. Its done three nights of laning last week, then took the Caravan away at the weekend with no issues. She deserved some polish after this
1996 Landrover Discovery 3.9 V8i Manual. Love it, by far the best fun Ive had for money in the LR camp.
It joins my 1973 Series 111 which needs restoration, which will end up with a V8 aswell. Best of British fleet!

That looks great. It seems they're becoming rarer in good condition like that...I see the values rising.1996 Landrover Discovery 3.9 V8i Manual. Love it, by far the best fun Ive had for money in the LR camp.

Thanks Clivey. She is getting a few sutble bits, some HD standard height springs, to make it tow better, diff guards (painted stonechip black though), potentially a snorkal for just in case moments, and a steering/diff guard, which will also be black. I want to keep it as subtle as possible really, don't want to ruin such a clean truckFull LR History is nice, its NEVER been welded, and shows no signs of rust anywhere, apart from slight bubbling on the rear bumper. Im happy as larry

Nope, came from the West Country. The chap has several Green Ovals, and prepares them for winter. This was used for weekend drives to places, never worked, always kept really well.
I felt guilty taking it laning, but have steamed off underneath. This weekend its getting a full protection underneath, I want to keep it as it is. Its lovely

I'd love a 300TDI to use for green laning / off roading (to do the gnarlier stuff I won't do in my shiny Discovery 2). I'd keep it fighting fit structurally and mechanically but wouldn't worry about a "character mark" here or there.
Something like this:

Yup, LPG underslung tanks! Its lovely, at 61p a litre, Im happy to drive it more than my diesel company car.
I bet you are! Is the LPG tank fitted in the gap to the right of the main one (like a "normal" extended range fuel tank would be)?LouD86 said:
Id love a cheap 200tdi, lifted and muds, as you say, to bash in the mud. Be so much fun
Having said that though, my D2's getting slowly transformed into an overlander. - I've just this afternoon ordered some rock sliders for it...it finally gets to lose the "Chelsea Tractor" side steps! Gassing Station | Land Rover | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
