Those symptoms are identical to mine. However, I've filled it from empty and it's still playing up. The emissions test on the MOT this morning came out at 0.3, whereas it's allowed to go up to 3.5 whatever's, so we suspect it's running far too lean. It's back in the garage next week to get it resolved one way or another, as with winter coming up, we need to be able to rely on it.

In the meantime, I've found a remanufactred R V8 for £370 delivered. If I can find the right gearbox and propshaft adapters on eBay...
I do have (as you know) a V8 Defender and had a V8 SIII previously so if you want to bounce anything off me just drop me a line wink

Will do. I think it's going to come off the road after the winter for a respray, bulkhead repair, body work modifications to make the rear lift off easily (I've got an idea involving pressure clip things), general fettling and an engine transplant. I'm so tempted to go the v8 route, as I've wanted a V8 Landy since I was knee high...

If I can do the lot for £5k all in, it's definitely going to happen

I notice on the bonnet yours is badged Defender, not Land Rover. Do they come out of the Factory now like that or have you changed it?

They're jumper wires to stop anti-torpedo nets getting tangled in the schnorkel when wading. hehe

The wheels on the original looked better, and its dirty in the 2nd photo. Ill get some decent pics tonight.

Bush Wires, yer, well its not staying on UK roads, infact, I have two dailys so it doesnt get used much. Mainly laning, towing the caravan, and then overlanding when I get into europe. They are worth having!

They're also not entirely legal. Got an MoT has it?
Irrespective of that, all they appear to do is direct overhanging branches at the roof lights.confused

Got to say I agree.
Also the wires aren't legal, take them down and fit them when your on lanes if you need them.

Wasn't aware on the legality. The vehicle barely see's the road anyway. But I will take them off if its going to cause me hassle.

Its got a long MOT, but was before the cables. However, I did take a friends 110 with Cables in on Friday, and it passed?

It shouldn't have passed, they're pretty bad in a pedestrian impact and IMO pretty superfluous for over landing.

Section 40A Road Traffic Act 1988 as amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991 said:
a person is guilty of an offence if he uses, or causes or permits another to use, a motor vehicle on a road when the condition of the vehicle or of its accessories or equipment is such that the use of the motor vehicle involves a danger of injury to any person.
So, but of a grey area really. Doesn't specify what's a "danger" to any person so it's down to whoever's watching at the time.
The MOT thing is the prime example where the installation of bush wires and other items could be seen as posing a danger, then again, someone else might consider the same vehicle perfectly safe.
From my driver's seat, the desire for a quiet Plod-free life on the road outweighs the desire for bush wires.

Bush cables are easily removable anyway so there's no need to drive around with them on all the time. Nothing wrong with them being shown on a photo though. smile

That is standard now. Black letters with black pack, silver letters with silver pack and grey (I think) as standard
