Flashback arresters.
The square box type filter can be fitted with a flap that allows the pressure to dissipate then automatically resets itself. http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/acatalog/Mixers_-_for_... Scroll down to "Box Saver/Blowback Valve - flap type. This flap-type box saver is designed for fitting in the side of an air-box or somewhere there is a flat surface large enough to bore a 50mm hole to mount the device."

I'd rather not have the pressure get to the AFM - as mine's a flapper it will damage or destroy the AFM - so I've got one of the below on the plenum side of the AFM. Again, releases the bang & automatically resets. Has worked on a couple of occasions - before I learnt that switching from petrol to LPG on an open throttle wasn't a good idea! (Worth a read: http://www.go-lpg.co.uk/Hints.html)
Arrester: http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/acatalog/Mixers_-_for_... scroll down until you get to "Blow-back protector for Rover V8 3.5 inj with flap-type AFM 70 mm blow-back protector M/F (V0050)"
I have yet to replace the elastic band round it & its been on over 10 years.

Does anyone in the Surrey/Hants/Berks region have the RRC AES software and cable? I've got the cable and software but for some reason its stopped working on my car, i've tested the cable, chaged the usb converter adn tried 3 different laptops but it just won't connect, If anyone could let me use theirs to plug in and see which part of my kit is faulty i'd be most gratful.

When I had the Overfinch I had a list of all the people who had those computers in that exact area.

There is one in Watford near Oxhey Lane (I'll see if I can find his details) but I suggest calling Graham Goodyear in Amersham as he will either have one or know who does.

Diag software sounds interesting! Is the AES software free or is there a cost? Any pointers on where to find it? I do have a USB - OBD cable for a different car; what leads do I need for the RRC, and most importantly, where is the connector?!?! Sorry, lots of questions there!

Everything you need is here, thats for the air suspension.

For the diagnostics you need Roverguage, something i'm looking into at the moment

As yours is a 91 I'd expect it to be the 'cylinder with a trumpet' up to VIN LA647644.
The later square filter is shown for VIN MA647645 onwards.
Thanks for that - mine's an HA VIN, so I shall look for the trumpet type.
