Twisted - am I wrong to like these?
Discussion
Defenders are great - period! This I certainly have no issue with.
The lack of choppiness in the 110 is more due to the wheelbase than anything.
A D90 has a 92.9" wheelbase, an RRC or D1 is 100" and they tend to ride better because of it too.
Re: the suspension. Just had a look at their site and they don't quote bespoke setups. Just standard or off the shelf Bilstien shocks and 30mm lower springs. I don't know the origin of the springs, but several people sell such items, so I suspect they may be of the same load rating as others on the market.
That said, I see no reason why they wouldn't be good, just saying I'm not sure it's 100% Twisted only spec and setup.

I've owned all of them. In fact I own two and half Land Rover's at present.
If you are happy with a Defender, then that's fine. If however you moan about a Defender due to elbow room, seating room, interior space, wind noise, NVH or anything remotely similar. Then you are only deluding yourself by not wanting an RRC or Disco 1.
The main chassis on all of them is very similar in design and identical in construction.
They share the same axles and suspension.
Engines are used across all of them, as are the gear boxes and to an extent the transfer boxes too.

And the 2nd one is a series 3 due to the fact the defender doesn't have leaf springs
But you're the expert here

Very true, I was just using Google and relying on its searching capabilities. And the 2nd one is a series 3 due to the fact the defender doesn't have leaf springs

That said, there still is not a lot of difference between any of the chassis, how they are made, how they work, what attaches to them and what they do. Which was the point, sort of badly demonstrated by my posting ability in mixing them up being so similar.
Sorry for the crappy pics, hence the trouble I had finding some before.
This is a Defender chassis:
And this is a Disco one:
They are still pretty similar. The chassis rails are the same distance apart. The shock and spring mountings are almost identical. The engine mounting points.
The only real differences is the bits to fit the different body tub, a Defender mounts metal to metal, while a Disco/RR body is located on rubber donuts.
AFAIC The more 'tastefully modified' Defenders out there, the more a nice original one will be worth in years to come.
I imagine a lot of those people who 'bobbed' their worthless 2-door RR years ago are kicking themselves now seeing the prices a good one commands.
Each to their own but for me, the more people try to bling up a Defender, the less appeal it has.

Khan is just so wrong as a brand. I couldn't do it.
D2 is no alternative. I have one for occaisional duties but its got no athestic or emotive upsides. It's just a good truck.

I like a bit of bling myself but Khan just take the biscuit and are completely OTT. Just a personal view ofourse which many seem to disagree with judging by their sales and the fact they are now getting into watches as well. Yuck.
They've already got into watched. They used to be very OTT, but they've seemed to have calmed down judging by their recent models. elegance said:

The term "highly polished turd" springs to mind.
I think it's the opposite, the have tunread some nice cars into turds. However, recently they've done some nice stuff, I repeat, SOME. Absolutely bloody awful "styling" for style's sake and in the misguided notion of adding some kudos. Innit blud?

That's kinda where I was coming from....nice vehicles, turned in to utter turkeys, then draped in bling.

Well, their RR is actually quite nice. Who do you think is better, Brabus for instance? Absolutely bloody awful "styling" for style's sake and in the misguided notion of adding some kudos. Innit blud?

Fixed that for you.
Well, what is your problem? Do you prefer brabus, if so what's better about them? Anyway my reasons for not liking Khan wont be posted on here. As for their styling - I agree they have got better but I cant get over the tat that they used to do.

Yes, they do, they own startech. Why won't you say why you don't like kahn? Yes, I agree their stuff was tat but they've improved a lot. Anyway my reasons for not liking Khan wont be posted on here.
