Hi there,

My mother has just taken her 2011 Range Sport Supercharged into her local Dealer to have her winter tyres fitted as well as a general fluids check-up, during the service they found her Spare Wheel had been stolen from the underside of the car.

Apparently according to the Dealer a series of similar thefts have happened, the thieves are cutting the winch cable that suspends the Wheel which allows it to fall from under the car and then walk away with it. The sixth case this month according to them at the one Dealer.

My mother then sent a picture to a family friend with a 2008 Range Rover V8 Diesel, only to find the same had happened to them!

Has anybody else come across this?

If not take your spare off and put it in the boot!!

There's a chap on disco3.co.uk who makes a foolproof spare wheel protector;

Details in this thread - RLD is your man.

My Father had the spare wheel of his RRS nicked a couple of years ago in exactly the same circumstances

Another vote here for Ray's spare wheel protector from the D3 forum but make sure you get one before you renew your spare or those quaint travelling folk will have your new one as well.

We had ours stolen from our RRS four weeks ago, exactly as described.

One of my drivers had the complete exhaust system including cats stolen from his Ford Galaxy whilst parked at Tesco.

Bloody scum out there

Yes, on holiday and have just discovered my spare had gone. Not sure when it was stolen but I understand that the cable can be cut through the spokes. I hate thieves. They should have a hot poker shoved where the sun don't shine!
