Went to the Land Rover Solihull factory today for a factory tour. The tours and the driving experiences are both operated from the same experience centre.

At the experience centre there were two Defender 147s which looked incredible. When on the factory tour, we were taken between the different areas of the site in the white Defender 147.

I think we were told there are only 3 147s in the country, with 2 being at the centre. They are apparently specially made at a price of around £70,000.

I thought they were definitely worthy of sharing, and wondered if anyone had any more information of experience with them.

In anyone's thinking of doing the tour at the Solihull Factory, it was really good. It was £45, but I'd say it was definitely worth it. I've done 2x Mercedes, 1 Audi, 1 BMW and 1 Volkswagen factory tours, and I'd say it was on par with the best of the others.

That looks fantastic! They would make good funeral cars for the JLR enthusiast. biggrin

I like the sound of the factory tour; how do you go about booking one?

Although I've only been to the Solihull factory, I'd say go to that one out of the three. At Solihull they make the Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover LWB.

My old 110 was bad enough, so I hate to think how big the turning circle of a 147 is!

JLR Solihull are also going to be building the X760 (Jaguar XE) and X761 (Jaguar Crossover) in the near future as well.
