Good trips. I assume Africa is out because of the difficulty getting to Cairo?

I'm a bit more limited these days due to the kids and SWMBO has got used to a motorhome.

Africa seems to be vanishing up its own arse in places.
Difficulty in getting to places has put me off it, but would still like am picture of the car parked next to one of those signs that say "welcome to the Southern Hemisphere" hehe

I think it would be quite an adventure with the D3 as it's a very capable car as standard so it wouldn't need much to make it better.

Finally got indicator stalk replaced, so headlights are working again. It was a pain having to use my roof spotlights all the time. Not to me, to the car ahead of me hehe. Got the brake valve replaced too so now braking properly again.

So the vehicle is in tip-top shape, yes?

Nooooooooo. Of course not. The water pump is fked. The water pump! First car I ever owned that I even knew had a water pump. And it is fked. How the fk can a sodding water pump fail on a car that has barely covered 30,000 miles in six years?

Very weird wobbly handling this week with rumbling. The death knell of a knackered front wheel bearing, had both replaced within a day and it's better than ever. Except the AC compressor is now whining. Wonder how long it will last?

heater blower fan conked out on my 56 plate Defender yesterday....

the heater was not great at the best of times so this is ideal with the cold weather coming...!

Now it's going in for a wheel bearing. FL2 58k 2010 pre dpf.

Not been the same since the diff / tea leaf incident. Pissed off frankly.

I can now add the gearbox oil cooler to my list...I've got a specialist giving the D2 a thorough inspection at the moment before the Dinitrol treatment gets done...

...current preventative maintenance / repairs look to be about a grand's worth. frown

I've done 100k in my TDV6 D3, TBH I was expecting it to regularly break when I got it, but I've been pleasantly surprised.

1. Clutch replaced under warranty as release bearing was noisy.

2. Left bank EGR seized up, replaced.

3. Hand brake shoe lining broke free and jammed inside drum. Weird.

4. Three wheel bearings, warranty.

5. New front lower suspension arms (the originals lasted 90,000 miles)

6. The drivers door lock stopped locking, but has now fixed itself.

I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

The large plastic but of trim on the B pillar has detached itself from the pillar and is only held on by the seatbelt fitting and is rattling in most annoying manner.

Well the heated windscreen responded to taking the fuses out, checking continuity, voltage of supply, and a good Basil Fawlty threatening. Ok now.

Defender td5, engine keeps on running after ignition switched off and key removed...

Only happens when trailer attached so looks to be electrical fault affecting the ignition switch...

I went and viewed a land rover freelander td4 tonight and all was great with the car other than loud muffled buzzing noise coming from the rear driver side wheel arch. Can anyone help clear up what this might be for me please?
