Yes, good point, well made. It does seem to be for people who like to whinge about a vehicle that seems to be pretty old and they have no concept of replacing. Each to their own, I'll get my coat.
I only buy new ones, they are rubbish too.

Oh well, the four Range Rover's I've had have been create, my business partner is pretty fond of his and his Discovery before it, that farmer up the road, and the other one, and the woman with the discovery past our house, and so on.

From what i've found with mine and i've seen with other's is that a LR can have one or several faults.
Very few faults will render it totally disabled so they can keep going even with a few things wrong.

My old compressor has finally called time, it's throwing up a warning light at every journey, still drives fine though.

Tomorrow is new compressor time. smile

Mine does something like that. Leave the door open for more than five minutes and it flashes up, "battery low, start engine".

Okay, so mine has now been in the AD's workshop for seven weeks. It went in with a rough running issue and the latest news is that it may need a new engine.

The problem being, it seems to be taking them forever to fault find and in the interim I am running about in a Freelander 2. Not ideal when my own car is a Vogue, not yet 4 years old.

I have been in to see the service manager today and he tells me that Land Rover is the problem because they want to approve each tiny step of the diagnosis and fix. However, there are inconsistencies in what he is telling me. One minute it's his senior tech that's been doing all the work, the next it is someone else entirely.

I'm going to give LR a call directly tomorrow. However, past experience has been a mixed bag in terms of getting them to do anything. Does anyone have a number for anyone who could prove useful here?

Last week I snapped one of the retaining lugs that secure the towbar cover in place. £3.48 for a new pair! Straight to the bottom of that JD Power survey.

Have you ever taken off the front cover? You won't snap the lugs, but you will dislodge their retainers and lose them into the void behind the bumper...

Said compressor was not changed.
Still hasn't been changed.

I do have a brand new AMK to fit but it's finding the time to do so.

Me too. Apart from the Sat Nav.

It kept "initialising" and the car needed turning off and leaving for it to fix.

Then the Nav thought the car was in Ukraine. Go to enter a post code and it wouldn't accept the UK format. The map knew the car was parked on my drive in Newcastle. The memory thought otherwise.

I had to manually select GBR from a menu deep inside the system to tell it it was in the UK.

The garage had it two days.

It came back thinking it was in Belgium!

I took it to another dealer, and they fixed it.

It's been a great car. I hope my DS will be as good when it arrives.

Does maintenance count as stuff going wrong?

The RRS is currently part way through a pre-MOT blitz on the suspension, brakes and one CV joint.
All four wishbones on the front (inc drop links), the rear is getting all new bushes and balljoints, and the brakes are having all four discs and pads.

Once it's been for a geo it should feel lovely to drive again.

My Defender let me down a bit today... Set off at 430am to deliver some stuff to a remote jungle location, going up a hill it
loses power and almost comes to a standstill. Change down into second and with max revs it bearly moves even on the flat. Almost leaves me stranded near a very dodgy shanty town. Fortunately limps back home at 30km per hour, low range.

No idea what is wrong, engine was fine, clutch was fine, some noise from below. Suspect turbo or diff knacked.

Right, this is what they found:

filthy MAF sensor
filthy throttle body
split intercooler hose
worn bushes
knackered rear ball joint

now working on a mysterious noise from the handbrake drum.

The good news is that it is relatively cheap to fix everything (mysterious noise not counted as unknown cost).

Sadly a contribution to this thread. Had a MY2012 D4 since September last year.
Noticed a small fluid leak, been meaning to get it into a dealer to get it checked out. Turns out its power steering fluid, which I suspected anyway because level has dropped slightly. Needs a replacement hose and more surprisingly a new steering rack. Had 24 hours to wait to get confirmation that its covered by my LR Extended warranty, which it thankfully is. But the rack is on back order, so dealer cant get hold of one - so car is still there, waiting on a call to either get mine back while wait for the part or a loaner.
