I have a 2011 which is enjoying a hiatus from issues, save for a fuel gauge that drops to zero occasionally. I could not currently buy a new one; I haven't the patience currently.

2015 Evoque - Doors now won't lock or unlock correctly on first/second press of button on fob.

LR Assist came out and told me it is the drivers door lock/latch mechanism and to arrange for a replacement to be fitted at my dealer. Dealer booked out until March 29th so car going into them that day. Apparently I can have a replacement anytime up to March 29th if the issue gets worse.

Think I shall be changing the front diff on the D3.
147k on it which isn't terrible but still annoying.

Update - car had another hissy fit on Saturday and another Land Rover Assist guy came out after a call from the wife. He reset the key fob to "global opening and closing" and then told her it would always open 3 doors even if the drivers door stayed firmly locked, we could then climb in and open the drivers door from the drivers seat. Given the Dealer we bought the car from was rather amazed we weren't given a loan car on the first call out the fact the problem had got worse and still no loan car was suggested rather dampens my opinion of Land Rover Assist.

As I was at the rugby I didn't find this out until Sunday given I had a small hangover smile. I was rather unimpressed and after a quick call to my dealer the car was recorded as a breakdown on their computer system and as of 8:30 this morning was in the dealership for repair (today and not the 29th) and a loan Discovery is on the drive for as long as it takes.

Summary - Land Rover Assist a joke, Beadles Sidcup top marks for resolving the problem thumbup

Hmmm Beadles of southend were my wrong choice then, Disco 4 died in the outside lane of the A13 on monday afternoon with wifey/kids. luckily managed to get across the 3 lanes to the side and out of harms way, 5 mins later after a few frantic phone calls it restarts and she gets home a further mile. wouldnt start again until the AA arrived 30 mins later when it fired up again but like a christmas tree.

Fault code read P0336 crank position sensor signal plausible NOT ok.

Mr AA and myself take for a quick drive round the block and it does indeed just die with no warnings so after 10 mins it fires and we return back home and advises us that we shouldnt drive it and when we arrange somewhere for it to go they will arrange transport for us.

I go onto Disco3 forum and see just last month someone had the very same issue with a car just outside warranty (silly i know but 4 years of trouble free discos) and Land rover have a recall on a range of VIN numbers IF the crank sensor goes, yep ours is IN that range. LR fixed the said car outside of warranty so armed with said ammo im ready for a fight, customer services @ 8 am yesterday who arrange for the car to go to Beadles southend for diagnostics. The AA were great and collected the car @ 11am dropped @ midday then followed a call from beadles to say yep we have the car and will advise asap. 2pm i get a call and think wow that was quick but oh no the call was to advise me they were busy until 29th (funny thats the same date as above) and wouldnt even have time to run a diagnostic check until then.......

so no car and no idea if/when it will be fixed or if LR will assist in the repair. for those that dont know said crank sensor/timing ring replacement is gearbox out and a bill of around £1400!!!!!

Update 2 - as of 4:30 this afternoon the Evoque is back and working perfectly. As said, top marks to Beadles Sidcup.

I'm guessing your car won't be hurried along like my one as you are out of warranty ?

Curious both Beadle's outlets quoting same diary dates for new bookings confused

With its fixed intercooler hose my Defender is going like an animal again, which is good.

The rear seats have mysteriously stopped wanting to go up and down, the passenger doors mysteriously stopped wanting to unlock and the reversing light still doesn't work, apart from that it's all good!

Still no real update on ours, been sat since Tuesday altho customer services have been ok and chased the dealer for us but still advising us they are busy until after the BH, i'm going to pop into the dealer later and see what they say face to face and maybe put a sweetener into the equation. wink surely a new sale will help speed it along wont it....

After inspection at a specialist, it's not the diff.

It's the front propshaft UJ joint that's worn out.
Going in on Thursday to a propshaft repair company to get checked to see if it can be repaired or if it's new propshaft time.

March 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 needed a new alternator 26,000 miles.

Also the rear window trims are corroding badly - not changed them yet.

The rear window trims, if you're referring to the ones on the tailgate running vertically, are a known fault I believe. Mine were done under warranty some time ago.

1988 Range Rover 3.5, 147,000 miles on her.

I've had her a year and a half, done 8000 miles.

The passengers electric seat went forward but didn't want to go back, swapping wires round reversed it again!

Other than that, she's perfect. smile

I will be a year out of warranty now. Did they do yours as goodwill or within 3 years?

Propshafts are very quick and simple to repair...

Unless it's bent or broken it should be a 15 minute job to swap out the U-joint

It was within 3 years. Goodwill seems very thin on the ground with Land Rover. I am not sure how many new Range Rovers one needs to purchase before it becomes a consideration.

The issue seems to be that to get the shaft out the way, you need to drop the gearbox cross member and a few other bits.
The shaft is sadly beyond repair.

Also rather annoyingly, the replacement rear propshaft that i bought from landrover, is knackered as well.
It's been on the car for just over 2 years at most. I've got the paperwork for it in my folder.

So going to stick a claim in against LR as a £300 part shouldn't be worn to the point of the propshaft guy saying it needs reconditioned after such a little time frame.
