I'm contemplating guzzling a few more gallons by changing the work horse/shopping cart

Currently toying with the idea of upgrading the Forester 2.5 Turbo to some thing a bit bigger and more potent
Settled on two the Range Rover Sport 5.0 Supercharged (probably an Autobiography) after the 2010 update and a Cayenne GTS/Turbo either just before or just after the 2010 new model.

Any one experience of either with reliability and bit of DIY tweaking?
What are the main dealers like vs indies?
I'm guess the RRS is easier to source parts and indies but is more likely to need them? wink

I have had a 2010 RRS Supercharged for the past year, and it should tell you something that initial plans were to do 7-8k p.a.; I am now on track to do 14k a year! The car is a pleasure to drive, especially on longer trips, and the power for such a 2.7tonne brick is immense. Off road ability is also superb - having taken it across mud, rocks, grass during the winter, it had no issue then doing 250 miles of motorway driving.

I have had a few issues with it - all sorted under warranty - and the service levels at my local dealer have been excellent (Marshall Peterborough). Not tried an independent personally as unsure what this means to the full Land Rover approved warranty and location of the main dealer is much better for me. The main concern was a vibration in the steering wheel/rack which apparently was a known issue with these, but at 23k miles, somewhat surprising. It was rectified in full with a new wheel, rack and suspension - but really should never have been sold to me by the dealer at the time (not Marshall Peterborough) in that condition, especially not with the approved warranty checks having been completed.

No regrets - excellent car overall although if you are in ANY way worried about fuel costs, step away. £100+ each time to do (at best) 310 miles from a tank is not pretty.

The 5.0 SC is immense. Only had mine a few months now, replacing a 4.2 SC. Genuine luxury motor but shifts a bit when required. Only downside is that it sounds a lot less V8ey than the 4.2. Not owned or driven a Cayenne but perceived wisdom has it that it is quicker, sharper, less luxurious, and more car like. As always the best advice is to go drive both and see what you think.

Likewise, amazing car, had a smaller SC pulley & mapped by DMS, it's too fast!
