I would appreciate a steer on what tyres for FFRR Westminster 4.4 tdv8 (62 plate).

Currently have the Continental CrossContact UHPs it came on, but have been offered Pirelli Scorpion Zero's for £50 less a corner, and I've also read that the new Hankook EVO SUV tyre is excellent, and now BMW standard fit on X50Md.

I do mostly motorway miles and farm track at end of day/week, so want road/tarmac performance, quietness, with great dry and wet grip as predominant characteristics.

What's the best bet please?

I can't comment on the Hankook, but many L322 owners (myself included) very highly rate Pirelli Scorpion's.

Yep, go Pirelli... They're also an OE fitment.

I've found the Continentals do last (significantly) longer than the OE Pirelli Scorpion.

Worth bearing in mind.

Scorpions last me approx 25k on a RR Sport
They are also pretty jolly handy in 2ft of fresh snow

Interestingly, the 20" Conti's were OE on my Westminster...they've lasted 15k miles on front...outside edges are worn from way I drive it and have 3mm across rest of tyre, surprisingly the rears still have 5mm across them with even wear and still look good, but have tear in side wall of one so will be changing them all round. From research I did over weekend it appears the Conti's score better than Scorpion Zero's and as someone else said above go with OE as they were OE for a reason...so I think this is way I will go.

Love tyre talk...........worth a try is Toyo PRX, many happy customers.

Good saving on cost if that's what's important to you.

The Conti's are very good but they all wear on the outisde shoulder when fitted to the L322 models.

The result of that is they tend to get replaced sooner due to that wear. Other brands of tyre, such as the Pirelli Scorpion, don't suffer the same wear issues and correspondingly last longer.

Ok, that's good to hear/know. The Conti's are quiet comfortable things and wouldn't want to have to see 20k miles on something not as good.

Hankook tyres are improving all the time. They are winning a number of OEM contracts on premium cars like Mercedes-Benz. Always worth considering them versus the big boys.
