Evoque residuals, 3 years on.
Discussion
Just FYI, Mrs Get just ordered another Evoque 5 door SD4 after 3 years and +/-35k miles, and got just over 66% residual value. Compared to my disasters with Defenders (which I still love) and a hapless Disco 2, that's pretty damned good.
Just thought I'd give you a heads up, as she was early in line when it came out, so three years is about up.
Out of interest. Not one single problem with the car, at all. A first for LR in my experience. Good work Halewood. Only Audi have provided a car that had no problems before. Aston, Porsche, BMW all notable failures.

... Interesting info.
We're only our second in 2 years (latest one being bought brand new in april this year). Just out of curiosity, did you get the 66% from trade in or via private sale?
Thanks,
Kris
From main dealer as a trade in for a new vehicle. I'm sure I wouldn't have got a good as deal if I wasn't re-buying... but have been in the same place with several marques, and have never got 66%. It seems to be keeping it's value well. We're only our second in 2 years (latest one being bought brand new in april this year). In the 33 months since we delivered our first Evoque we've only had 6 used ones (JLR main dealer in USA). Residuals have been very strong. We will pay strong money as they sell v quickly when we can get them. The first 3 year leases will start to come up soon so hopefully we will see more. the Evoque is so similar in appearance to the ' main ' range rover you really have to wonder if the bigger vehicle is worth the money - its really just better for posing in nothing much else - and its residual values are quite poor.10 years ago if you wanted a rr you had one model to choose - no ' cheaper' alternative . Now its not so simple !
The popularity of the Evoque and the upcoming Freelander replacement seems to be hitting FL2 values hard.
I cant get a trade offer of more than 55% of list after ONE year for my Freelander 2 (took a few options and a safe colour for resale so thats not the reason). I fancied an auto HSE FL2 and made a few enquiries at LR dealers and it seems Freelanders are the runt of the litter now that the new models have moved the game on by a huge margin.
Feeling grateful I took a PCP deal (take that cash buying well built company directors!) so can throw the keys back at the end if values continue to plummet.
I wonder if Evoque values will stay strong once the new Freelander 3 comes along and gives LR buyers another option?

No offense but that's complete bks. The cars are chalk and cheese. The Evoque is a great car but it's completely diffefrent to the FFRR or even the Sport.
As for residuals, try and buy a used L405, you'll probably pay over list for a one year old. I just sold a 2012 L322 for 81% of its new MSRP and last week a 13 Sport S/C for 85% of it's new value. Both cars were certified but those are icy residuals. I can't believe the situation in the UK is that different.

Residuals on both the FF and Sport model RR's is very strong. LR dealers are selling SH new Sports over list. These are 9-11mth old cars with 5-8k miles. I just don't see how full fat rr is worth 3 times price of evoque - one has 2.2 dsl and other has 3 litre dsl , both go well on / off road , have lovely interiors and good image . I am disappointed with look of new rr , as with p45 and L322 the standard wheels are too small and look stupid on it.

There isn't going to be an FL3. It will be called the Discovery Sport. They released the Discovery Vision concept a few months ago and it looked pretty good. I'm hoping there will be a discovery sport concept by the end of the year. I dion't quite see how they are going to make the styling work with out it looking exactly like a Evoque.
Good news about the residuals. Also interesting to hear thats its been reliable. However, I'd like to see whats it reputation is like when it hits 5 to 7 years old.

I know, but it replaces the FL2 so effectively takes the place of a FL3 in the line-up, even the motoring press are referring to it as the FL3 until full details are launched.I do agree that it will be difficult to slot it in without being a very direct competitor for the Evoque if they move the exterior styling and interior trim up a notch from the outgoing FL2.
Interesting to see how Evoque residuals hold up when the new FL3 (that isn't the FL3!) is released, will LR suffer from having too many models that aren't distinctive enough from each other?
Perhaps the interior will not be as plush as the Evoque. They say it's starting price will be around the 25k mark . It will launch with the same Diesel engine as the Evoque but in late 15 the new hot fire engines that will be built at the new Wolverhampton plant will go in. These new engines will be class leaders in ecomany. If it's near to the pics I have seen I might have a punt on it

Why do you think that will be the case? Discovery Sport will be very different from Evoque. Each model in the line is distinct from each other now and that will be the case in the future I'm sure.unrepentant said:

In what ways, can you give us some details? The Evoque is different from the FL2 as the latter is an older design by many many years.
As for each model being distinct, I cant see why with the launch of the new RR Sport which I love, anyone would buy a RR?
