I've had my Range rover for 6 months, driven 7k miles, and I simply love every aspect of if - apart from setting off from a standing start.
I'm not looking for launch control level of performance, I just want to start moving when i press the pedal. The delay can be quite embarrassing when waiting at a roundabout. The "gap" that was there suddenly isn't any more.

I have read about all sorts of tuning/chip modifications. Will these sort it? Which do you recommend? Will these affect my LR warranty or insurance?

I live near Reading, and gather that Rovertune have a good reputation. Has anyone had their RR "performance enhancing packing"?

Thanks for your feedback

Can't offer much advice other than to confirm mine is exactly the same. Clarkson even remarked on it when he reviewed the car back in 2006 or so.

Also, Rovertune are great, I've used them to do all the work on my TDV8 and have discussed doing the tuning upgrade but not specifically with regards to the hesitation from standstill. I decided not to bother as it's not cheap and I've not been disappointed with the car's performance without it being chipped anyways. smile

Give Rovertune a call and see what they say. Keep this thread updated , I'd like to see what you find out! smile

Thanks Piersman, thats reassuring to know.

Have booked in at Rovertune for an initial diagnostic check, and they'll let me know if their tuning service will address my symptoms.

Had a Vogue TDV8 and had excatly the same problem. Buying a Supercharged solved the problem. I've got instant power delivery now up to the rev limiter.

I have that on my TDV8 too. I guess the only answer would be to have some form of "turbo-pre-spool up", but I don't see that as a very practical solution.
Mine has a Bluefin map in it and it makes no difference to this situation.

As Scotty on Star Trek was fond of saying "ye, canna change the laws o' physics captain!"

I find the pull away in the SC a bit sluggish. That's by comparison to our old A8 which had a featherlight throttle though - so much so that pulling away smoothly was quite a challenge. Nevertheless, even compared to hire cars, I find the RR needs a fair bit of gas off the line to move away briskly.

If you want to be quick off the mark, you need to put the gearlever in S in which case it starts from 1st gear, if you keep it in D it starts in 2nd gear for a smooth start.

I may be stating the obvious, but you can leave your hand brake on whilst in Drive. You then set off pretty quickly when you press the accelerator (ie you don't need to disengage the hand brake).

Thanks for the feedback chaps.
Just to clarify, i'm not looking to race away from the lights (I have a toy that does that rather well would i choose to employ boy racer mode!), I just don't want that lag/hesitation when i press the accelerator from standstill. I'll try the "sport mode" tip, however it may well be this is a "feature" of the turbo, and i'll have to learn to live with it.

This may well be a torque clamp in the TCU order to give the drive line an easier life
