New Disco Sport - Effect on second hand prices

As already said different market segment, unless it has a more discovery like drive chain, which I doubt. it is as far as I can tell its pretty much an Evoque with more room. It may impact the Evoque prices and sales more....
Yes I think Evoque prices will take a little dive, simply because people who want that little more boot space will go for it. But there again there is talk of a longer wheelbase Evoque next yearJust been reading on another forum that late discos are predicted to take a £3k drop in value in the month of September. - this is less due to the new sport bring launched and more to do with volumes coming onto the used mkt (big jump up in production 3 years ago)
The post has a link to CAP black book graph that shows the drop, plus the experience of a buyer who's new car got delayed and the trader has reduced his trade in by £3k in the mean time.
Saying all that I can see there being a lot if support for decent discovery 4 with sensible miles at £20k especially as we go into October and November.

I would not over analyse it. As has been said, the Disco Sport replaces the Freelander so I doubt it will do anything - no low ratio box, no air suspension, no 6 cylinder engines, tiny rear seats and much smaller boot so impact minimal.
As for falls in book value, the market prices cars on three plate changes a year - 1 Jan, 1 Mar, 1 Sep - so you will always get large changes around these dates.

Ok having looked at the information released today me thinks this new Disco Sport is too close to the Evoke and hence will impacts its sector most. Also given it has leapt up in price since the FL2 a lot of the lower FL2 segment will look else where. All in all I think JLR may have blundered on this one.

they can easily introduce a £30k spec car once demand eases..
How can they do that or go down further to £28.5k?The £32395 entry level SE spec already has a manual gearbox, the old TD4 engine, no nav, no full leather etc etc.
The only way they can really de-spec it further is offer it in 2WD, lose the 3rd row seats, and spec it with wind-down windows and steel wheels with trims

I don't think they have made a mistake here as they can easily introduce a £30k spec car once demand eases so max £28.5k OTR will be fine for many. Mind I don't know why they don't keep low end FL2 going as a £20-25k car.
Model for model against the outgoing FL2 the Disco Sport has increased in price by 12-22%. I find that a bit of a piss take tbh.yellowbentines said:

It's an option! Taking out the half leather will help as well but with cars like the Mazda CX5 selling mainly in 2WD it might work. BTW meant £28.5k after discount from £30k list. The £32395 entry level SE spec already has a manual gearbox, the old TD4 engine, no nav, no full leather etc etc.
