Hi

I need some help please, I've noticed the suspension on the 2006 RR Sport has been dropping overnight. The car rides well with no issues but the front must drop buy 2 inches. Do I need to worry?

Regards

You've got a leak somewhere... Whist it is obviously sorting itself out when started up, it will potentially put an extra load on the compressor, so you should trace the leak sooner rather than later.

If you fancy trying to trace the leak yourself, one method you can use is to spray a soapy solution all over the air lines and suspension parts and look for the bubbles!! smile

I had the same issue, i fixed it on Thursday by swapping the front valve block out for a new one as it had an internal leak.

If you have a couple of flat head screwdrivers, or a trim popping tool, a 11mm spanner and some axel stands you can do it on your driveway in a couple of hours.

You basically remove the front right wheel arch, the arch liner and the valve is located at the front attached to the crash beam. It's 3 11mm pipes to unscrew and the power connector to unhook. Then refit and rebuild.

It will throw up some suspension fault messages as it refills the system and builds pressure again, this is normal.

I changed mine and it's not dropped since, i do have a new compressor to fit as the current one is on borrowed time.

I am a bit confused here. I have a Discovery 3 that presumably shares its suspension with the RRS. When I switch off the engine and get out, shut the doors the car remains at the normal tarmac height. However, when I lock the doors using the remote the car drops to the access height. Starting the engine takes it back to the normal height again.

Is this wrong and I have a fault or is it just the way the suspension is programmed. I was not sure whether the OP had his car drop down below the access height overnight or whether it was just slow to lower to the access height.

Thanks.

I understand your confusion... biggrin

If there is a leak, there will be a noticeable 'sagging' in the suspension, at one end and it'll often drop to below 'Access' height as it rests on the bump stops.

Yours sounds normal(ish) though I wouldn't expect it to drop to 'Access' height.

I dont think I have a leak as the car always remains level and the descent to access height occurs over a few seconds as a deliberate action once the car is locked. Maybe this is one of the many odd programable options? I must try it with another key as many of the the option settings are stored in the key memory.

Leave it at your peril! Mine started flashing up 'Suspension fault, normal ride height only'. Turned out the compressor was fuggered. Failed to maintain pressure (the replacement is an upgraded part) a common problem apparently. Still cost £500 for the compressor though. frown

I know you can program various functions into the keys.

My LR badge switches on the headlights, but it can also do other things according to the manual. ( yes i did read mine tongue out )

However, my spare key seems to be programmed for Tyrone Lannister as it makes the seat go right up and all the way forward into the dash and sends the mirrors pointing at all angles... hehe

The key needs setting up to change suspension height, once set up it will only change height whilst you hold the land rover button and one of the lock/unlock buttons for up/down. All this only works with the doors locked and the hazard lights on. So that shouldnt be happening to yours, i have just had my front air bags replaced. frown
