Prices will start under the Evoque.
Not according to Land Rover UK website.

By £thousands.
I got an email from JLRNA last night that said US prices will start at $37,995, that's $4k less than the Evoque and on par with the LR2 (Freelander).
I'll stick my neck out here and say I think most of us on Pistonheads buy in £ not $ wink

Yeah........ but if we're selling it for less than the Evoque the UK should be too. I'm in the uk right now but I have all the specs and product guides that were sent to me last night and that's what it says. I'm with JLR at the end of next week so I'll get clarification.

Cheapest Disco Sport (SE) manual is £32, 395 & £34,195 for the SE Auto.
Cheapest equivalent 4wd SD4 5 door Evoque is the Pure £31,505 for the manual and £33,305 for the auto.

So your British built, freighted to the US and sold Disco Sport is $37,995 which is actually £23,000 at today's exchange rate, including I presume sales tax.
Why does it cost £32,395 here, or if you are really kind and remove the 20% VAT and the 'on the road' element is still a basic £26,800? Be interesting to know the sales tax element of the US price.
Unless convinced otherwise I stand by my earlier assessment, someone is taking the piss at JLR.

We have always been ripped off when you compare what British car companies charge over in the US to here

I suspect by the size, styling and pricing they should have called it the Grand Evoque.

I want to like it but unless the residuals are superb it isn't something I would step into. I may revisit the idea once they put the new engines into it, as I can't see the residuals being strong for the rough lump in the out going 2.2 versions being proffered at launch.

Reading the What Car review that LR will give generous discounts if Sales are slow from launch due ti the car having the existing engine. I for one would not go near one until the new engine is up and running. I think resale on those early cars will be a bit of a nightmare. Why can't they just wait till the new engine is available.

Seriously hope the new discovery (is it full fat now?) doesnt look like this. Its just lost any kind of identity. Could easily mistake it for one of these at half the price (in US)

Sales tax is added to the sticker price here (average 7-8%) and dealer front end margins are lower. I have not given any discounts on FFRR, new Sport or even Evoque whereas I keep hearing that UK dealers discount. LR have to be competitive with the competition in every market so differentials between brands should be the same.

It's a great looking SUV, but a bit underwhelming. Looks like what the Freelander refresh should have been 2 years ago.

So what chassis is this using? The Evoques, plus new rear?

I had a deposit on one, but too in love with my Macan to go back to LR for this.

Triple, and therein lies the fun. We've run a RRS and 3x new FL2's over the last 8 years. Good experiences from all however we will be looking at the Macan, Cayenne and possibly a new RRS and of course the Disco Sport.
On that note, LR will have static displays of the DS around the UK during Sept and Oct.
My deposit holding dealer seems fairly confident they will have the demo vehicle in December to drive.

+1.

Seems there is lots of confusion over whether the 'Sport' is a new Evoque or new Discovery....
Only by people who aren't actually reading the press releases.

Discovery Vision concept is the Discovery 5.

I like the look of the new Disco Sport (FL replacement) and it will steel sales from the Evoque.

LR are turning into Aston Martin. Their models are starting to look very similar.

The Auto Express article also states that we won'tr see the new Defender until 2018 frown

Still think it looks more like grand Evoque than a discovery, also as it seems to have similar capabilities.

Priced up between the two and it makes the 5 door Evoque look like good value in the UK, perhaps that's part of the plan. Although in the US it sits squarely below the Evoque? Can't believe that in this day and age metallic paint is an option on any car bar a basic 3 door shopping trolley, but an option on the top of the range disco sport, Shirley not, another attempt to squeeze every penny out above the Evoque

Actually like the look of the thing, but have a innate dislike of having the piss taken out of me as the price placement of this seems to have done in my eyes. I can only but think there is a baby disco sport not yet launched that fills the gap the FL2 is leaving...l

Placed an order today for a HSE auto with the black kit in Corris Grey. This combo looks the DB's on the builder IMHO smile

Will P/X a low mileage March 12 Evoque as part of the deal. The dealer wanted the Evoque now given the demand and promised a good price. I believe him because I have dealt with him several times over many years. Delivery date for the new Disco Sport will be Feb/March time. We will opt for the 15 plate in March.

Are you going for the diesel, if so are you happy having the existing engine. I too have an Evoque and might well fancy the sport because its a wee bit larger boot wise, but I would definitely wait for the new engine in Oct 15. Agree with you on the Corris grey, I have Orkney grey with Black pack on my Evoque

That'd come in at around £41k+ not including any other options?

For that money I'd be looking across the showroom at the ex-demo/sub-10k miles Discovery 4 XS up for £40k-£45k with the 3.0 SDV6 in it, especially if space/7 seats was a concern. I think Land Rover marketing is excellent and they're pushing what people will pay for their products up as far as they can, creating demand, controlling residuals as many will buy on PCP - very clever.

However, each to their own and all that, hope you love it!

What you have to take in to consideration is buying the Disco Sport 45 mpg as opposed to sub 30 mpg for the FF Disco road tax at near £500 a year Disco Sport £200. Its a lot more expensive to run if you are doing the miles

Diesel is the only option currently. Yes, the same engine as the Evoque but with the 9 speed auto it is supposed to improve responsiveness, especially pulling away from stand still.

One reason for swapping now is that I think Evoque residuals, which are currently unusually high, will be hit mid-next year by a glut of trades against the Disco Sport and that it's now 3 years since the Evoque was launched will further increase the second hand supply. Hopefully swapping for a new attractive model with limited second hand supply for a few years will allow us to ride the low depreciation curve for a while longer.

Yep, £42k in total. 7 seats are useful but not important. As above, depreciation is an important consideration. I expect the depreciation on a new Disco Sport will be less than a used current model Disco that is likely to be replaced with a new model late next year. Plus it's for my wife and looks are more important than size to her smile And I have a FFRR L332 for those occasions when size is important lol.
