A bit too "lifestyle" and short on content really...

Are folk like this responsible for driving the cost of old Land Rovers up? Turning them into objects of desire rather than utility?

Speaking as a trader specialising in restoring series 1 and 2 LRs, I hope so.

Not many use an old series as a ute these days, they're more of a toy/indulgence, with occasional use as a ute. Whatever it takes to keep them popular I'm in!

Tip: Buy every 200 & 300 Disco you can get, stockpile the engines and boxes, in a few years time all modernish Defender owners are gonna want to convert to TDi!

Lifestyle?

With me it's a full-time job!

Great little video. What's wrong with 'lifestyle'? I guess it's because the Defender/Series vehicles can be used for work/pleasure and just about anything you want that has made them so popular. I use my 2A for collecting logs, taking the dogs out, going to work in bad weather and cruising around with the top off in summer. Suits my 'lifestyle' very well and I expect to pay a higher price for a vehicle that enables me to do this.
P.S. I'm not here to argue! I just think the Defender would be dead and buried now if it wasn't for Joe Public pretending to be a farmer. smile

Good video, there is definately something about an old Land Rover, something purposeful and evocative, whenever I see them I wonder what adventures they've been on and what places they've seen that perhaps other ordinary road cars haven't been.

Girls like Land Rovers too and I see a lot round my way (it's very rural where I live) with women at the wheel, they don't seem to have any trouble handling what looks like to me, quite a big beast of a car! Here's a video on that theme.
