P38 engine to avoid?

Actually the later 4.6s with the revised injection aren't too bad on a run. On a 250 miles trip in which I really went for economy, I saw 24mpg. In everyday motoring its between 16 and 19

Really? Mine does about 30 on my 20 mile round trip commute.

I think it's a pretty good engine, not especially powerful but smooth and does what it's meant to do.
