I know there is a lot of slagging off of LR Main Dealers on here and in fairness, I've had my fair share of poor experience however credit where credit is due, I've recently had some (shock horror) good experience from Ridgeway Land Rover in Oxford last week.

Looking for an Evoque for the Mrs, used live chat via Autotrader (getting down with the kids smile)on Tuesday night, made an appt to see a stock vehicle on Wednesday morning. Explained I only had 30 mins so they had the car ready at the front for me to test drive.

When we visited the dealership, we were greeted straight away and offered soft drinks from the fridge / coffee etc and encouraged to look around the display cars. Never had this before from LR or Aston for that matter when I used to have my Vantage.

Test drove it and explained I had more cars to see. I called them back Wednesday night and negotiated the deal - they threw in 2 years warranty (it's a 3 year old car) and a child car seat, full dealer service and 12 months MOT, and a price reduction from the showroom price.

Collected it on Friday lunchtime.

I'd be encouraged to use them for service etc now and drive past the LR dealer I used to use in Aylesbury to get to Ridgeway.

We were put under no pressure at any point.

Good work guys and perhaps this should act as an example to other LR main dealers.

This is the complete opposite to my experience from Ridgeway Land Rover Oxford.

Buying new land rover, searched throughout UK for a deal. A broker came back with the best deal.....told Ridgeway as they asked the best price I had. They confirmed they could match. Double checked this before setting off on my 3 hour each way drive to do the deal. Had test drive, filled in paperwork for sign off in back office only to come back and say they can't match the broker! Bunch of jokers from my experience I'm afraid.

Not good. Whilst I was in there picking the Evoque up I asked them about a discount on a new FFRR as I've been offered 3% by a broker. The guy said they wouldn't do any deal at all.

It's always refreshing to hear of someone receiving good service anywhere - But I find it so sad that good service is refreshing.

I was recently away on business in Leeds, 350 miles away from home and my rear no. plate came unstuck and fell off. I stopped at Farnells LR in Leeds and they were fantastic. As the OP described, cold soft drinks, hot drinks, fruit, biscuits, cake and even a small tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream was on offer while I waited for them to put it back on. They didn't even charge me for the labour - although only half an hour, that's still technically £50 according to their hourly rate.

My local Dealer, Hunters in Guildford, recently agreed to replace the bootlid of my car and respray the entire back end - warantly job of course as it was traditionally rusty - there was an initial issue where they weren't interested and tried to get me to go away but I was persistant - once the barrier was broken down, they couldn't be more helpful, even giving me a brand new courtesy car - it had 50 miles on the clock when I picked it up.

Excellent 3rd year service on my RR Sport from Harwoods. (Chichester, not Pulborough)
Aligned wheels on a new machine after fitting new tyres, and runs so much smoother now.

Sorry to pry but what did they charge for the wheel alignment? I need 4 tyres soon and it'll definitely need the alignment as they're all wearing differently. Chichester is only 20 minutes away from me...

Hardwoods of Edenbridge take some beating on the service side (haven't used sales)
They are always courteous, helpful and keep you fully updated and will always go the extra mile to assist logistically.
Steve Attwood is the main man setting and maintaining the very high standards, highly recommended.

Fast Rich, Harwoods charge was in the region of £100 for the RRS, but curiously they wanted £250 for my Vanquish, so better get a quote.

Thanks for this - useful info. £100 sounds reasonable. I was quoted £200 buy a local independant, their reasoning was down to the precision of the machine and how brilliant it was. That's fine and dandy but 2 miles down the road there'll be pot hole which throws it out anyway so a less expensive setup is preferred!

Weird how the Vanquish can cost so much more - surely the process/job is the same/similar regardless of make or model with 2 axels and one wheel per corner??
