I keep hearing the DS is expensive, but everything is! I wish it was £25k, but looking at the lie rent interiors of the likes of Honda CRV's for £25k, or the lush Cayenne/RRS at £60k, the DS for £40k seems alright. I must admit, the interior trim used, isn't for me. But it needs to be durable & solid. I don't think the RRS 'feels' that special, bit tinny like the DS. So DS it is.....

Do the math for DS, list (not vat or our additions) is £35k5 in the UK for HSE Lux. Using the 1.56 exchange rate means the DS would retail in the US for $55k before sales tax or tag....not forgetting shipping costs from the UK........
You have it the wrong way round. Take the HSE LUX at 35k pounds and remove the VAT and you're at 29,170. At 1.56 you're at $45,505 pre sales tax, we're at $46,495. Add the VAT back in and you're at $54600, with average sales tax of 7% we're at $49,749. It's the VAT that screws you.
Obviously didn't make it clear, 35k was without vat or on the road costs, with those added the delivered price you pay in the UK for a HSE Lux is 43K.....equivilent to 67k USD.........

The example I gave removed all taxes so it was base price, but excluded shipping costs from the UK - US. I thought that made it celarer.
Simply it is either under priced in the US or over priced in the UK. As its a free market, then the price is right if it sells, the UK has always been an easy market to sell inflated cars in so it will continue.

I bet you one thing if the DS was the same price in the USA as it is here = $67k they would not sell one unit

We sell plenty of Evoques at $60k plus. wink

I guess it's back to market pricing. Each brand has to compete within each market. Everyone's cars cost more in Europe than they do here and everyone's cars cost way more in China than they do in Europe. There are also spec differences and I also think that the dealer margin is higher in Europe. And don't forget your crazy VAT rates.

£15k is an awfully big jump in price to go from low rent interior to durable yet tinny wink

My 5 year old FL2 HSE was +£40k list, although I paid about £37k. So £43k for my DS HSE on order is ok.

I prefer the interior material used in my ole FL2, than the new ones in the Evoque/DS.
