Looks too 'soft' and girly for me, a Land Rover should look chunky IMO.
And the DISCOVERY decals/badging is too try hard, it's screams 'I'm not a Freelander 3, honest, I'm a Discovery therefore you shall pay £5k more for me'
thankfully your not on the design team - lolAnd the DISCOVERY decals/badging is too try hard, it's screams 'I'm not a Freelander 3, honest, I'm a Discovery therefore you shall pay £5k more for me'
at the moment LR products cannot keep up with demand - they sell themselves
I know as I'm looking to buy at 2013 L405 and if you don't buy quickly you loose out - demand far outstrips supply esp for the 4.4 v8

Not a fan of this design at all
I also think that the lights will devalue / dilute the Range Rover range.
one could reasonably argue that the Range Rover 'brand' was devalued with the Sport but even more so with the Evoque?I also think that the lights will devalue / dilute the Range Rover range.
but not so in the real world as I said about my difficulty sourcing an L405
I think what Land Rover should have done is keep churning out products designed 40 years ago, it would keep the die hard fans happy......... until they went bust at least.
Land Rover have got this nailed, I am not a massive fan of the Evoque, too flash for me, but I still appreciate it is a very good looking car that didn't look far off the prototype and I doff my cap for a marque to have the balls to produce something like that.
And the sales figures show that many people do love the styling.
Good on 'em I say.

I hear you and don't completely disagree (despite the Mrs having an Evoque, which incidentally is a good car) but traditionally the ranges have had different styles.but not so in the real world as I said about my difficulty sourcing an L405
You can see that the FFRR, new RRS & Evoque are all related
Then you had the Disco - different design / proposition, same with the Freelander and then the Defender
The Defender is no more, what's next, Freelander's and Discovery's having this front light configuration?
I liked being able to chose different type of vehicle with different design styles, I think this is morphing the them.

you have summed it up - sales prove that they have got it rightLand Rover have got this nailed, I am not a massive fan of the Evoque, too flash for me, but I still appreciate it is a very good looking car that didn't look far off the prototype and I doff my cap for a marque to have the balls to produce something like that.

I was a die hard L322 fan UNTIL I drove the L405 - chalk and cheese is an understatement

Yes but I can see a clear difference between a 911, Boxster, Caymen, and Cayenne.look at the classic Porsche 911 and the cars produced today?
Do the variants of 911's look 'related'?, yes and so they should
Just a personal view, as others have said, the sales speak for themselves. I just really hope that they don't become a victim of their own success. I first got into LR 'products' in the late '80's when a friends Dad got what is now known as a 'Classic'. Wow, I was taken right there and then, just stunning. But in those days I also looked up to BMW & Audi (and Porsche for that matter). Today I wouldn't buy either of those 3 German cars, mass produced 'samey stuff' and TBH since her indoors has got an Evoque I'm seeing too many of them on the roads!

Really? I see a line up of Boxsters, Caymans and 911's and they all look pretty similar. The new Macan just looks like they took a Cayenne and shrunk it.If you take a Disco Sport, Evoque, RR Sport and RR and actually look at them they are all very different and individual. They have a common "face" up to a point and that is deliberate as it is with every brand. When someone looks at any of them they are going to be unmistakeably Land Rovers, just as an Aston is unmistakeably an Aston, a Porsche a Porsche etc..
I dont get it why they're blurring the lines between range rover and land rover badged products with the styling. Land rovers should be chunky and utilitarian surely?...not just a poorer trimmed range rover.
Must say the pics above make it look very girly....aiming at women of a certain age who would maybe otherwise be driving a Honda CR-V or RAV?
Needs beefing up imo!
