Been looking at Evoques to replace a 2006 X3.

Love the drive, feels like a very nice place to be and was very impressed on test drive.

Now trying to decide what to go for.

Think the Dynamic is worth the extra because we want parking sensors, nav, larger wheels, and the bumpers are a lot more attractive.

Seems used Evoques are only a few thousand less than buying brand new, Dealers also saying a lot of people buy "new" because of the strong residuals, surely this means market being flooded with brand new cars, and eventually its going to pop and these are going to drop a lot of money?

I rarely buy brand new, but when you compare a 2013 Dynamic with all the bells and whistles at £37k vs buying brand new for £42k it feels like new is a no brainer, but then £42k is a lot of money for a compact SUV?

Welcome any thoughts from anyone else who has had similar dilemma?

My local dealer also seems to not be *at all* interested in doing any discounts... Part of me thinks its a silly amount of money and just lump for a used Pure Tech for £25k and be happy!

There are deals to be done if you are in the right place at the right time. We got 4k off a brand new one but it was in the showroom and they needed to shift it. Many people buy brand new because of the PCP incentives but yes, the residuals are strong. For how long, who knows as they have been around a while and a refresh must be coming along soon. They are a lot of money for what they are though.

I bought a used Si4 Prestige a couple of months ago, for way less than a new one but I'm not in the UK so it isn't really comparable!

What I would say is I think I'd go for a Pure Tech if I was in the UK as I'm not sure the higher spec ones are worth the money, and as long as it has nav, a pan roof and 19s then that would do me.

I bought a new Pure Tec it had the Pano roof, full size spare and tinted rear windows. I kept it 13 months low mileage only lost 3k chuffed to bits. My only reservation is when the DS is launched will a lot of Evoque owners jump on it,(bigger boot etc) which will then see a lot of Evoques come on the market and dent prices

To me the DS doesn't feel as nice inside, although more space would be good, and a better infotainment system would be much appreciated.

Recently bought my mrs a second new Dynamic. First one had zero problems over three years, and the trade in price was well over 70% of cost. New one getting 36 mpg. 15% more than the first one. Most comfortable seats / driving position I've known. Seriously good off road!

Recommended.

That's unreal! Mine is just under 3 years old with 18k miles, and I bought it from an LR franchised site in Zurich. Paid 43k Swiss, new price was a fraction under 75k so I paid less than 60% of the new price at full retail! Finally, something that's cheaper in Switzerland!

First one had done 37000 miles, so not comparable.

That's what I mean, yours has done twice the miles and the trade in price you got was massively higher than I paid at full retail!

I get 26-27mpg from my petrol one, so that's not bad compared to a same-age diesel doing low 30s

Ah... I see... so how much is the retail price (in GBP) of an SD4 Dynamic (with no options?) Here it cost me £37,700 (without options).

ETA That was 4 months ago.

63,100 SFr for the SD4 auto Dynamic, not sure what that is in GBP, over £40k I guess though.

£39,300 for Dynamic with no options, on the road.

There was a finance deal for £1500 off that if you take it on finance, but that seems to have finished on the 1st Jan. So its actually really close for new price, difference might be purely down to sales tax % differences?

No, I meant in Switzerland... but I just looked and it's £36,260 there... so cheaper than UK (less than I paid, £37,700 + toys)... hmmm..

That's for a 5 door BTW

I guess I am being re-assured that everyone is buying these at the prices I've been offered, and its not a conspiracy to get 40k out of me for an SUV!!

Just can't decide weather its worth going for a 13 plate and saving £6k off new, or bite bullet and go new!

VAT is only 8% here, so I'd expect it to be cheaper than the UK like-for-like on new cars

Does a 13 plate have the 9 speed box? For that difference I'd buy new as you get a longer warranty and your own choice of spec.

Also looking for a nearly new or new Evoque,

Savings on used seem small, so new seems best bet, but are there any discounts around?
