Also looking for a nearly new or new Evoque,

Savings on used seem small, so new seems best bet, but are there any discounts around?
My local dealer told me "no discount" and when I walked away later followed up to say he could beat any other dealers price, so the answer is "yes" to discounts but you need to work for them.

I'm not buying new unless I can get at least a couple of K off, it's not in my blood to pay full retail smile

My mrs has just picked up a new SD4 Pure Tech, brand new, 2 month wait for the spec she wanted (folding mirrors, dipping mirror and full size spare) the dealer offered her a choice of 2 that were in stock at full list price with way more options than she wanted. She got 5% off list price. To get an ex demo would have costed more than the wait for a new one.

Interesting read - also looking at an Evoque with the Mrs as our next wagon (mainly be used by her) and we've come across the same dilemma... similar specced used cars to what she wants are still around the £38k mark which seems silly when it's not much more for a new vehicle. She will be taking it on PCP and our dealer has suggested the recent offer of £1500 could still be argued for despite having ended - plus after some pushing he reckoned that we could probably twist their arm by another £1.5-£2k off the final list price depending on spec (that would be anywhere from 4.5-5.5% discount)

Yet to go in and actually start a serious conversation but I'd be interested to hear how others get on too - I'll be sure to update here once we've sat down with LR...

I'm having a similar conversation with myself about a new Vogue. The difference in price is so minimal between 15k mile examples and new ones it seems foolish to buy second hand.

However if most people are buying new who is buying the used stock? And will dealers entertain offers?

Good used stock is thin on the ground, and there are always people who either refuse to buy new on principal, or who want their car NOW and won't wait for a new one. That's enough to mop up the limited supply available in the used market.

Makes sense. I have noticed that if you want a v high spec used example the saving increases. Problem is the difference in price between a base Vogue and loaded AB is circa 50% and I don't want half the stuff that loaded cars offer.

i took delivery of a puretech in november, looked at getting one second hand but it just wasn't worth it. Had to wait 4 months but it was worth it. I got £1000 pounds off and privacy glass and power mirrors thrown in with the deal. If you do decide to buy new, get the 5 year service pack, at 499 its a no brainer and made buying a new one complete sense for me.

THIS !

You should also get a free half day driving experience at one of their centres. I just did mine on 4th Jan at Luton. Really good 2.5 hours finding out what the cars were really built for....and what all the buttons really do !!! and with the weather there was plenty of mud :-)

Took delivery of a new Dynamic Lux back in June & haven't regretted it a single day...this is my first "foray" into 4*4 world. The car is very capable on and off road for what it is. My only gripe would be boot space...but honestly it's not too bad. Managed to negotiate a small amount off from my local dealer...I tried the next closest one and they bluntly told me there was absolutely no room to negotiate. Just need to pick your dealer & go talk to them.

Im pretty happy picking up a 12plate 23kmiles on Monday for £32k (circa £45k spec). Prestige with Lux pack so pan roof, xenon lights, parks itself, dual screen etc in fact the only add on missing which doesnt break the deal is adaptive cruise. Orkney with same colour roof as its like that ill be getting Totally Dynamic to gloss black wrap the rest of the roof for me (and the silver waist trim while they are there). The car is in 5dr SD4 format which means all year round driving and will compliment my TVR better than the RRSport im trading in against it as I really hate £100 fill ups and £500 a year to tax. Oh but the 19s may find there way onto the classifieds as its fleabay for some black 20s for me wink

What do you guys make of Sidesteps on an evoque?

I think ill ask about the 5 year servicing pack as that may be a nice saver.

Really enjoyed today's drive home now getting familiar with all the tech. Really gonna enjoy this. LR threw in a full tank in the deal and after 70miles home display level never moved I could get used to the savings. Especially as I'm due back £250 of 6months unused tax. That's a whole year on the Evoque! I'm already a big fan.

We got our dynamic in sept last year, the new price was so close to used it was a no brainer. We got the new 9sp auto after my wife being adamant she wanted manual and I'm really glad we did as the auto box really suits the car.
Must have options - full size spare wheel, pan roof and the service pack. We also added privacy glass and power boot along with downsizing the wheels from 20" to the 19" Diamond cut.
Loving the car, we've done 5k in it so far, just a few trim rattles to get sorted. We looked at the pure tech but by the time we added in the options that were standard on the dynamic it was a simple choice. We got ours for 38.5 against a list of around 43k, including the service pack and a full tank of fuel so there are deals to be done, this was cheaper than a couple of equivalent used models.

Pan roof is essential on anything other than a really basic one I think - I looked at one with a black interior and fixed metal roof and it felt like I was sitting in a coal scuttle. The electric tailgate is nice, but I'd rather have keyless entry personally (last car had it and I miss it now).

That's great - thanks for the info Zippee - anyone else got any steer on the must have options for the Evoque?

In fairness I worked up a 'dream spec' of Dynamic Lux with a ton of options ticked, with it coming out at nearly £52k! In fairness that did include the black pack and the dynamic plus pack for the interior which is a bit OTT.

A couple of dealers are saying they still have an opportunity this week to nail a spec down for an end of March car if I can finalise by Friday - I doubt I'll be in a position to do so and I'm in no rush, but thought I'd see what options generally are the 'must haves' and what is a bit of a waste of money.

Cheers!

Here's my grubby and snowy white Evoque, I wouldn't call it off-piste, but I was on-piste shortly after the pic was taken.

The heated steering wheel is brilliant for the drive home after a couple of hours playing in the snow, no idea if it's optional or standard on UK cars but it's an essential bit of kit out here.

It's optional and one we (my wife) now regrets not taking smile
