Just bought a new D4
Discussion
Well...new to me. What a fantastic car!
This means I've obviously traded in my old D3 and was told it would go to auction which makes me a bit sad. It's a great car which I've owned for 7 years and I've spent a fortune on it to keep it tip top, very well looked after by me and a great car for its next owner. I don't even let the kids eat in it and if their shoes are muddy, they remove them! It's an SE in Cairns blue with almond leather interior, only done 141k miles with gearbox oil flush, egrs blanked etc. It literally needs nothing.
If you are in the market for such a car and promise to look after it, PM me and I'll put you in touch with the dealer.

It handles better, goes much better and feels more luxurious/up to date. Definitely a step up from the D3. Went for an 8sp HSE 2012 model and that gearbox is great, always in the right gear and you cannot tell when it changes from one to the other. Got a pretty good deal on trade in but to be honest these cars sell themselves so good ones don't stay around long. I've phoned up for 3 different cars only to find them sold the same day. Mine has rear entertainment which the kids will appreciate.
Congrats
My wife went from a 2.7 D3 to a 3.0 8 speed D4 - it felt like a significant step up in performance and on road refinement.
Some of your comments concerned me, about keeping it in tip top condition and avoiding mud.....
I think of ours a bit like our lab, if you don't take it out and let it play in the mud, snow and water, it becomes a bit sad.

Indeed, I don't mind it being dirty on the outside but cannot stand filth on the inside. The way some people treat their cars is truly disgusting, I know somebody who spilled half a chocolate milkshake on their passenger seat and left it to dry because they couldn't be bothered to clean it up. Minging!I think of ours a bit like our lab, if you don't take it out and let it play in the mud, snow and water, it becomes a bit sad.
