Thinking about buying a Pure Tech 4wd 3dr, but surprised to find 3dr and 5dr priced the same.

Surely when it comes to re-sale, 5dr will attract a premium over 3dr?

We looked at both, personally found the 3dr to not be as good looking.
It was also a PITA to move the seats forward, press button, wait an age for it to slide forward then manually tilt it. The final straw was the seatbelts in the 3dr weren't height adjustable and my height was just right for the belt to rest on my neck, very uncomfortable and nothing I could do about it, small detail but it was a deal breaker for us so we went for a 4dr.

So why does anyone choose a 3dr if the price is the same, and are residuals on the 3dr worse?

Not exactly sure. Perhaps they think it looks better (which maybe it does, slightly cleaner lines) but really, who wants a 3 door 5 seater car? Which probably is why residuals not so good, less demand.

When I ordered mine I test drove a 3 door and it was a PITA. The seats have to be electrically brought forward which took an age, we had our 3 month old son with us and the child seat barely fitted through the gap. I also think they look squashed compared to the 5 door. Even without kids I thought it'd be rather un-practical for a 5 seat 4x4!

I would have thought the 5 door would command more money, but this is RR we're talking about so I think they all command as much as possible as so many people want them!

There are a lot less of them (852 - 5 door, 137 - 3 door on the LR used site at the moment) - so i'm presuming the price is a supply demand thing.

i actually want a three door as its for putting bikes in not people so the seat thing makes no odds - plus personally I think the three door looks better. I'm just struggling with the used cost as a percentage of new.......i'm being quoted months for a new one and i don't have that much patience, especially with the facelift announced.
