Which RR to buy?
Discussion
with a view of repairing and maintaining myself as much as possible. I have always wished of owning one but have been put off the fear of maintenance cost but this itch needs to scratched and I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase. Was thinking of an older model to start and see how things go , but the L322 looks so good, so which one would you recommend?
If L322, then Supercharged, naturally.

A Classic will be easier to work on and should depreciate less and probably even gain in value.

Agree about Fullfat, but disagree about working on.Plenty of help, advice and enthisiastic encouragement at fullfatrr.com

The L322 is a doddle to work on and won't be anywhere nere as corroded as a RRC. Parts more readily available too.
But some stuff is not cheap. Think water cooled alternator or replacing a cat.
Having had both and maintained both L322 all the way.
In the 4 years I have had my 54 plate maintenance wise it has had:
Refurbed gearbox £1800 - fitted professionally
New alternator £600 -fitted professionally
Air suspension compressor £250 -fitted myself
One cat replaced about £300 and one welded up
Quite a few sets of pads and disks at £100 an axle fitted myself.
Have done 60K miles in that time.
My local indy charges £275 + vat for major service which is a bargain in my opinion.
You can get the workshop manual which is a great help. Also the 2002 - 2004 share a lot of parts with BMW.

True, insofar as they don't need sophisticated diagnostics & that everything is accessible. Basically a big boy's meccano set. You WILL need to learn how to mig weld.Plenty of help, advice and enthisiastic encouragement at fullfatrr.com
