Greenlane only insurance
Discussion
Looking for Greenlane/Off-road insurance for a Land Rover Experience Trek we are doing in May where we will be using our new Defender.
Unfortunately my current road policy does not cover me for Greenlane and have been trying to find a company that does this type of insurance like you would get for a single track day cover. However can't seem to find a company that does this type of cover.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Cheers

If you're on a public right of way your policy should cover it, regardless of whether its deemed a "green lane" or not, a very misleading and ambiguous term by the way, which has no meaningful legal definition.
If it's not a public right of way (for powered vehicles) then you shouldn't be on it, so your insurer may not provide full cover.
Pay'n'play sites are slightly different as they're usually classed as private grounds.

Best not try and insure through the AA then, as they don't think greenlanes are roads. Ignorant scumbags.
"Green lane" has no legal meaning. You're either insured for being on a public right of way or you're not.I'm also not sure that ignorance of something makes them scumbags.
Should have explained it better, as it's organised by the Land Rover experience it will be a mixture of off road as well and hence why I was looking for separate insurance.
So many companies do track day insurance I can't understand why I can't find any with just off road. Admit that the risks are probably higher.

Yes, but as mentioned "off road" is simply a phrase, generally used to describe the condition of a right of way as being unsurfaced. It doesn't affect the legal status off the route, and therefore the same insurance that covers you for being on a motorway will (or at least should) apply. So many companies do track day insurance I can't understand why I can't find any with just off road. FWIW, it also means the Road Traffic Act and other legislation normally associated with surfaced roads still applies, so don't forget to indicate at junctions
Track day insurance exists because a circuit isn't the public highway so normal insurance wouldn't cover it, higher risks or not.

You're clearly spoiling for some sort of bizarre confrontation about RUPPs and BOATs, I'm about to go out for lunch, so I'll leave it at that.Tell you what, I'll post the word "Lightweight" and then launch in to an accusation that you're clearly spoiling for some sort of bizarre confrontation about Lightweights and Air Portables.
Weirdo.

Now, have you anything useful to contribute regarding the grey area of "off road" insurance, or are you just going to pursue the slightly odd and unprovoked accusations?

Bob, I've never had a confrontation about lunch, particularly if someone else is paying.
Much as per Ludwig, our cyberspace paths have crossed previously, and I don't particularly want to get involved in the same old sniping. Life's too short
Why the unprovoked accusation of "spoiling for a confrontation" then, based purely it seems on questioning the relevance of you posting the word "BOAT" with no actual explanation?Much as per Ludwig, our cyberspace paths have crossed previously, and I don't particularly want to get involved in the same old sniping. Very odd.
What was for lunch by the way? I'm afraid I'm a little out of touch with what they're feeding trolls these days.
