And use a mineral oil. Run mine on 15w40. The engine is old technology & not really suited to thin synthetics.
The exhaust gaskets - esp the separate ones, there are 8 of them with 4 per side - are very easy to fit upside down and wrong way round which doesn't help the sealing. check that the exhaust manifold bolts are tight.

Or you could use the later stainless steel spectacle type, much harder to fit the wrong way around and much easier to install.The exhaust gaskets - esp the separate ones, there are 8 of them with 4 per side - are very easy to fit upside down and wrong way round which doesn't help the sealing. check that the exhaust manifold bolts are tight.
