That's turboS price.

Standard turbo is £93k, and will surely be more than enough to see off the SVR !
I would not bet on that.

I think these look fantastic. Who cares if a Cayenne is a bit quicker; neither of them are racing cars. hehe

I've had my SVR since Saturday now and for me (and here's the subjective bit) it is the ideal car. Practicality of a large 4x4 but with a little devil inside just when you feel like being a lot naughty!

It really is testament to the genius of Special Vehicle Operations to make the 'bog standard' Supercharged just so much more sports car like. I do feel I'm qualified to comment as I've still got my Supercharged (which is for sale if anyone's interested!).

Having driven and owned a fair few sports cars in the past, the SVR genuinely does bely it's size. The throttle response, handling, and general theatre genuinely are sports car like. The only difference is when you're not in Dynamic/Sport mode then it's just another comfortable luxurious Range Rover - what's not to love?!

The SVR is ace, makes a nice noise too.

No doubt GC will demonstrate his vast wealth by ordering one of the first of the new FFRR SV ATB's.
its nothing to do with 'wealth' - I'm not an oligarch!

when I was looking for an L405 I saw some Autobiographies - they did not appeal - more leather and more 'toys'

90% plus were black which I did not want

I found my perfect car in Nara Bronze with the V8 diesel - plus it had a light interior (Almond and Espresso) and had deployable side steps already fitted

its still got more 'toys' I've never even tried out let alone used!

lets get this right?

if you like the SVR Sport - good luck to you and if you buy one I hope you enjoy

but

its not for me and I was expressing an opinion which some fan boys seem to dislike?

my car goes offroad 6/7 days per week for shooting/fishing - a working Range Rover

Genuine question.

How do you manage with the deployment steps if you're off road that often?

They don't deploy until you open the door and you can turn them off.

Surprised you didn't stump up for a new one GC, then you could have had exactly what you wanted with no compromise.....

the steps have sensors and will not deploy if insufficient ground clearance

I have a knackered hip and they are a godsend

that's not how the deployable steps work - read the manual - oops, you don't have an L405!

god, you are a bloody gobby Yank!

I got exactly what I wanted and saved nearly £20K - that's how I got to be 'wealthy' as you are keen to point out

Thanks, I was more concerned about restricted ground clearance when actually driving off road rather than when actually deploying when parked smile

I'm with GC on the SVR. Pointless vehicle but I still really want one. I have rarely taken my disco's off road and even then its been just a rutted green lane rather than anything difficult. Even managed to get the D2 stuck in the mud trying to tow a horse box up a slight incline with AT2's. The discos have been a godsend in the snow (I live in semi-rural, very hilly peak district) and a normal car or even a land rover with normal tyres wouldnt have been useable. So an SVR would probably be a bit rubbish in the snow what with sporty tyres. Chains or even 'spike spiders' are a faff.

yes, the steps when stowed reduce offroad clearance - but let me put it this way, its never affected my offroad driving

you sum up the situation admirably

you want an SVR, then go for it and have fun - I wish you well

Really? How do yours work then? Because if they are factory fitted and deploy without opening the doors when the engine is running they're not working properly. Once you have closed the doors and driven off they will not deploy unless you have them locked down or you open the door. And you can turn them off all together. So what part of what I said was wrong? Or perhaps you have non OEM running boards?

And I'm not a Yank.

Well, I wanted to enjoy this thread as I'm a big fan of the SVR. Such a shame to see it descend into personal insults.
