Clarion PU9844/AMR 2384
Discussion
Would anyone have one of these spare? Clarion have told me mine is unrepairable due to internal corrosion. I have a 9836 from a P38 but that doesn't work in my setup properly!
It is possible that these were only used in the soft dash classics. Even if it doesn't work clarion should be able to fix it unlike mine!
Thanks

Doesn't seem to be used on many. Microcat says VIN MA647645 onwards.

The older Microcat http://lrparts.ru/engl/ seems to suggest it was used in the LSE & Vogue SE:
"D08.025 RADIO CASSETTE & CD SYSTEM-FROM (V) KA624756 TO (V) LA647644
RADIO-CASSETTE, CLARION, 'CLASSIC PART', (VOGUE LSE, WITH CD PLAYER, (+)RDS, WITH EON OR VOGUE SE, WITH CD PLAYER, (+)RDS, WITH EON)
Part number: AMR2384"

The Classic does have a speaker amp, mounted on top of the sub woofer enclosure PRC8738, also a clarion amplifier giving 25W/channel from a pair of RCA pre-out inputs.
I took mine out of my classic and replaced it with a newer amp and headunit when I upgraded the speakers. Did the same with the sub amp too.

You are quite right. My impression from Clarion is that the p38 has individual speaker amps which is why the HU differs. I'm sure he said that some of it is powered by the HU too but as you say it has that tiny silver amp on the sub. I just want it to work!I took mine out of my classic and replaced it with a newer amp and headunit when I upgraded the speakers. Did the same with the sub amp too.
I'd like the becker landrover single din nav unit from the later freelanders but that will take more changes than I can be bothered with for now.
