Hi All,

It's me again and still on the topic of the Land Rover Discovery. For the record, I needed a larger car to accommodate our grandchildren and I am seeking your help as I am new to all of this. The day that we purchased the car we were assured that it would undergo stringent testing and that of course they had lots of return customers so we had absolutely no need to worry. We duly collected the car and drove home, quite some distance, when en route we spotted a small apparent chip in the windscreen which we believed must have just been bad luck. Autoglass were duly called out to repair the windscreen and they explained that we should contact Saxton immediately as the windscreen had been previously defectively repaired and a second repair had also taken place thus we would need a new windscreen. We have attempted on several occasions to come to some conclusion but the original salesperson is never available and the next in line occasionally e-mails to apologise that he has been rather busy.

Please could you advise as to whether we are simply being over fussy or whether a car costing £30,000+ should have an intact windscreen.

Subjective to the age/mileage I think.

Is it possible to post an image of the damage?

A used car will have a few niggles and most will be picked up on the pre-delivery inspection. Some are deemed 'passable' and where possible, windscreen chips are repaired. However, some do slip through the net and some are repaired to a poor standard.

Hello,

Sorry about the delay in sending the picture but it seems that I had the wrong size or something. Thank you for taking the trouble to look at it.

Kind regards

If you asked for the windshield to be repaired prior to collection and this has been done poorly, then fair enough. If you never spotted it, well it is wear and tear on a used vehicle, so your cost IMHO....

Your problem summed up in just 1 word! Worst Cowboys ever & at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!

All of their cars are v poorly prepped & their warranty is worthless! They are simply shocking & that bit about repeat customers is a total lie!

Go onto www.disco3.co.uk and do a search there - have a stiff drink to hand!

Difficult to tell conclusively from the image; one looks like it may well have been attempted and the other is difficult to say if any attempt at all has been made.

I would say there is a good chance they could almost definitely be improved upon by someone who knows what they're doing and is allowed to use a drill with a glass burr in.

Biggest problem with repairs is when someone has a go and only does half a job, it blocks the hole you use to inject the resin and blocks the resins path. Take it to a specialist with decent tools, Glassman might know someone in your area.
