Just curious if anyone has had a similar experience. I have called two dealers, exchanged emails and it is I who is chasing to place an order for a Discovery Sport, and ZERO interest and response from them. Never had this kind of experience with other high-end car dealerships.

Any suggestions or should I turn up with cash in hand?

Phil.

Quite common in my experience.

If you indicate in what part of the country you are located someone may be able to suggest a dealer.

Ah yes! Sorry. Any suggestions for a dealer/sales person around London would be appreciated. Thank you.

Not my experience, I have put my details in to their UK website to download a brochure and had emails from local dealers here in Scotland within a couple of hours introducing themselves and offering to help.

I found when we were ordering that they are not interested in trying to sell you a car, they want you to go in and tell them the spec you want and they will tell you when in the distant future you will get it.

In all the years of buying cars I have never been in a busier dealership!

A waiting list on pretty much every current model, they can therefore sell every new car they can get hold of - this could be the reason for the lacklustre response you got (it is however not an excuse or in anyway excusable)

I know the senior management that are responsible for two of the biggest LR franchises in the London area, and know they would be keen to assist you in your request. If it is their dealerships that have failed you so far, they would love the feedback and opportunity to make amends.

PM - I can forward you some contact details or additionally if it is a major group - a tweet sometimes does wonders, lastly a call into the sales manager or general manager.

It's a shame you need to escalate the issue, however like every industry you get pockets of excellence and sometimes a response that falls short of standards.

I'm based in central London and found both lookers battersea and stratstone to be fine, test drives etc. Ended up buying from Stratston. Experience no better or worse than buying from other brands. Key is to remember that the dealer isn't the 'product' as it were!

Call Beadles in Sidcup and ask for Paul Bradley 020 8309 1100

Top guy to deal with and if he is not available they will take a message and pass it on. Let him know you are looking to buy and he will call you back.

Bought a lovely Evoque off of him at the end of last year, easy transaction and a nice guy to deal with thumbup

I went to the dealer and decided to order a new Vogue SE, but they kept on pushing and pushing a used one to me instead. Even knocked off £10k from the advertised price to persuade me to buy it as I told them I was decided on getting a new one, but they kept on making it a better and better offer! In the end I took it and didn't have to wait the 6 months and got a nice little discount on the spec I wanted too.

^^ Interesting, maybe I might change my tactics, because I maybe in the market for a used Disco soon (to replace an Evoque), so maybe I will start with pricing up a new Disco.

When you say "the market" you mean wives of professional sportspersons, company directors' totty, hairdressers and girls called Tiffany?
