Hi,

I have a 1977 Series 3 with a 2.8 v6 from a Mk1 Granada in it. Its running a Weber 38DGAS with the choke removed and electronic ignition. It always starts and ticks over fine, even in cold weather. It has plenty of low end power for off roading. The problem comes when it revs over about 2500-3000 rpm the power seems to run out. Which means I can only do about 50mph on the road and thats with or without the overdrive. It even seems to struggle to accelerate much passed 50 going down hill. I've checked the brakes and they aren't binding. I've tried changing the timing accross the specified range and adjusting the carb but nothing seems to make any real difference. Seems to drink petrol too, 14mpg.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Try replacing the diaphragm in the accelerator pump on the carb.
