We're considering a FFRR as a tow car, up to 2000kg. We are just starting the search, and already I can see a few options and wondered if anyone can offer the sweet spot to start my search, and what to look out for. Initially I was thinking a 2010 + car for the facelift an the 3.6 V8 TD engine, however it looks like the V8 was stopped in 2010, so I am wondering if all these will be pre faclift?

I don't know a lot about the cars, other than the price of a 2010 3.6 V8 Vogue with 40k miles is around what I sold our Disco 4 for last year which seems great.

This car won'd do a lot of miles, pleasure trips only so if there are decent savings to be made going for certain engines I'd be interested in opinions.

Thanks!

Hi, Might be able to help a bit but some one more knowledgeable will be along in a bit !!

As you say 2010 was the year of the facelift on the range rover.

Re the engines, the 3.6 TDV8 ( diesel) carried on and then the 4.4 V8 diesel was introduced. Easiest way to tell was there is a round knob on the 4.4 (where the gearstick should be) and a normal gearstick on the 3.6

We've had both and a discovery 4 3.0 SDV6, imho the 4.4 TDV8 is much nicer than the 3.6, the 3.6 was great in its day but the game has moved on.

4.4 TDV8 more similar ( in smoothness) to Discovery 4

Obviously the 4.4 is a bit more but worth it.

Also a consideration is spec, you can get HSE ( Basic spec, not sure if they still made those at this time)) , Vogue, Vogue SE ( heated and cooled seats) and Autobiography (heated and cooled seats and leather headlining)

Hope that helps a bit

We are going back to a discovery 4 as we need the extra room inside

We are currently considering 4.4 FFRR or Disco 4, in terms of room, how much more is there in the disco (we don't need 3rd row of seats) than the FFRR? Also in terms of cabin quality is there a considerable difference between the two? and do both wallow through the corners?
