A car you don't mind scratching.
Mud.
Tyres that weren't designed for Tarmac alone.

Correct mindset and confident of car's abilities and your limitations
A well-maintained car

Good tyres
Hi-lift jack and base
Tow rope and shackles if required to suit your recovery points
Shovel

Tools and spares for the 20% items which cause 80% the pain (fuel pump as example)
Spare track rod (complete) and drag link because I've bent both these in the past, spares don't take up much room, are easy to change and make the difference between walking home and driving!

Recovered from this with only the equipment above. LHS was 1 metre lower than RHS because wheels broke through sun-baked crust of a muddy patch.

A proper tow rope and multiple shackles (no kinetic ropes!)

Underside protection (mainly steering and diff guards)

A fully inflated spare wheel, preferably an A/T or M/T depending on what was fitted to the car

Selection of tools

Decent tyres. Goes without saying really, that will depend on your intended use. AT/MT or a half house between them.

Recovery gear, know how to use it, keep it stored and clean, don't use damaged stuff.

Don't go out alone, always good to have another car along for help if needed.

If you have terrain response, know how to use it, when to turn off HDC and also DSC.

For what specific use. The term 'off road' is pretty broad.

The kit I quoted is carried all the time; assumption is that terrain and climate specific adjustments would be made e.g for desert use add sand mats, replace mud tyres with A/T or sand tyres.

Until I upgraded to a Full Electric winch mounted to the vehicle, the things I wouldn't go into the beyond without are;

Recovery Shackles, and several rated strops
Hand Winch
10 Litres of Water
5 Litres of Coolant
5 Litres of Oil

Gloves
Hi Lift and Base
Waterproof Clothing
Knife
Saw
Cable Ties
WD40

And of course, the truck well maintained, with good tyres. Always worth having your phone charger with you too

Which of course can only pull you in one direction... wink

...and so begins the whole hand vs vehicle mounted winch debate. hehe

For greenlaning just the basics and at least two other vehicles - if the lane is that bad you should show some voluntary restraint in using it, if thy get too bad they get shut

For pay and play sites I always seem to have lots of hi viz loonies itching to recover me!

Can you get one for a L405 Range Rover?

Has to be for a L405 Range Rover model and can it be dealer fitted to the L405 Range Rover.

Cause GC has a L405 Range Rover but he doesn't like to mention that he has a l405 Range Rover.

Me? Being rhetorical?
On a Thursday's evening?

How very dare you Sir! hehe

wink

Wonder if they ever used that winch in anger?
Also, those roof mounted spots look silly sticking up like that.

I'm just taking the piss that where possible you try and mention your L405.

Surely that was obvious from both the typing and the smiles?
