Btw what spec and options did you go for?

HSE, Corris grey, with contrast roof. memory seats, adaptive xenons for me.

HSE 180 Auto. Kaikoura Stone, almond interior. The only option we got was privacy glass.

My wife wanted the contrast roof but it didn't do anything for me in that colour.

The demo we got for an overnight test was an HSE luck in Corris Grey with the black pack. It looked stunning. - and I'm not the biggest fan of black wheels.

We considered the Lux but it was 4K more for stuff we mostly didn't need. However I wish I had read the configurator properly. I wrongly assumed the HSE spec would be the same as the HSE spec on my 13MY Freelander. No memory seats and no heated wheel. Hardly deal breakers.

So far it's created one sale. My neighbour ordered an SE Tech but after a nose round mine he's changed his order to an HSE.

I really like the AJ20 engine and the nine speed 'box. Even though it's a diesel, it's got a nice exhaust note.

How easy was it getting an overnight test? I'm close to ordering one but have gone off the idea after driving to Scotland and back in the wife's Evoque at the weekend. My Audi is so much nicer to drive!

I'm a goateed company director. I commanded them to do it!

Seriously, I had my Freelander in for some warranty work and suggested one as a loaner from the point of view that I was thinking of changing. The lady on service found me one. She actually got the sale.

There's a thread about it somewhere here.

Never driven an Evoque solo I can't comment. But so far the DS is more than living up to our expectations.

I've noticed from the Land Rover web site that they will be supplying 400 Disco Sports for the rugby World Cup, presumably these will then be shifted through the dealers as used cars like BMW did after the Olympics. I might wait til after October to see if there are many used ones about.
I've not seen any more Disco Sports on Autotrader since the end of the World Cup, LR must be hoarding them!

Will they be held until of the financial year end?

I also wonder how many have a small R and D role. The Disco Sports I used on my Land Rover Experience day was I was told an early production car and when its role as an experience car was finished it would be returned to the factory and pulled to bits to see how it fared.

Only what I was told.

It might be the rig by cars had software mods or whatever that they need to evaluate before they sell them.

I notice my dealer has what looks like it's entire DS demo fleet up for sale for list or higher price - I guess that's because some have expensive options. Maybe it's just good old supply and demand? I've read of long delays in orders because they stopped production to re-tool the production lines for the new engines. Not everyone who buys a new car is into cars, they want one now, not in months time and they don't know or care about a new engine.
FYI, the bit in bold is not true. Supply and demand is why people have to wait, as a result residuals are high. Lots of pre-orders to fulfil and sheer weight of worldwide orders mean a long lead time for delivery.
No one had a new overhead crane system installed in August that was possibly up-rated, to possibly deal with the possible extra weight of possible hybrid/battery powered cars? scratchchin

Would that possibly be installed during the summer shutdown? When no cars are being built anyway?

That was the plan, but did it go that way?

Mrs C has an order in for an Evoque & was looking at a New Disco Sport but for reasons beyond me, went for the Evoque! When I chased up the progress on the car with the supplying dealer 2 weeks ago, they confirmed delivery of both models is circa 6 months although if you're after a manual in either model, the delivery dates are extending now as the suppliers are struggling to keep up with demand for the manual boxes due to popularity with company car drivers.

Sods Law says we'll have a very cold snowy late winter & her new car (a 4x4 Evoque) will arrive as the sun comes out....

Mrs Digga picked up her second Evoque last month. She had an early 2012 model before, and the feel of quality in the new car and some of the small, but significant features give a very impressive, overall feeling of improvement. the new engine is more refined too.

Looking at the interiors of the cars in the dealership, whilst the Evoque's looks good, the Disco Sport still seems a bit low-rent, Freelander-throwback to me. When I had a Disco, I did once have a Freelander courtesey car and felt that, even back then, the interior really let down what was otherwise a reasonably decent motor.

Digga, thanks for the voice of reason. I've pointed out the obvious to Mrs C in that the Evoque is the premium model of the 2 & that's initially what she spotted when she looked at one in a dealership & did the usual inspection of the interior/fittings. She made her decision based on residuals & hence a better lease deal, but she's suddenly thinking that although there's just the 2 of us plus 2 Jack Russell's that an Evoque won't be big enough!....."grrr" is all I'll say as it took 6 months to order her car given her fleet dept seem run by a bunch of muppets!

Interesting.. I wasn't aware of anything otherwise. I know that some of the cradles used to lift the cars are approx 50 years old.

Nonsense. We checked our dogs fitted on the demonstrator when we bought the first one - no problem!

We've a Corris Grey HSE Black on order, we ordered it end of July, and have been advised for ages that it would arrive at the dealer on 27 November, but they would need a week to prepare it so we'd have it by 5 December. This week I've been advised it's slipped a week.

I was quite keen on the Volvo XC90, as once you tick a few options boxes the DS gets pretty expensive. However it'll be my wife's car and she loved the Volvo but just found it too big. The DS was by far the favourite.

Looking forward to receiving it, but really haven't seen many on the roads yet. I think it's pretty handsome, and I've always enjoyed the sensation of jumping from the 911 into a car with a "commanding" driving position. Always makes me appreciate both options more!

I haven't seen any in the NW - but go the SE and it seems like they're everywhere. That's probably true of Land Rover products generally though.

They do look almost "neat" on the road - really hide their size.

It's not as commanding a driving position as other Landys. More car like but you are still high up.

I love the contrast too . The MGF feels tiny and low especially when you sit in it next to the DS and the wheel
centres appear to be at eye level.

My neighbour's DS is scheduled for early December. He ordered about the same time as you and once he'd had a snoop round my HSE changed his order from an SE Tech to HSE.

Fuel consumption with the new engines getting better. I've had 47MPG on a run from Birmingham to Neecastle. It seems to be quite a sweet quiet little engine considering it is a diesel. Sounds nice under acceleration too.

The DS is great to hustle along, so enjoy.
