Strange smell in vents?! - Range Rover Vogue 2014 full size

I have a Range Rover vogue full size 2014 model and have had an awful smell coming through the vents , best way to describe it as a musty ,dirty old urine smell!!! (It's not very nice) and seems to be coming through the vents and AC particularly noticeable when you turn on the car for the first few seconds.

My dealership say they can't even pick up the smell but had so many people in car smelling it that know its there. Anyone had anything similar? Or can help please?

Not the same car but when my Frontera did this it was the heater matrix

Yes - I had this in my jag, probably fungal or bacterial growth somewhere in the hearing or aircon system. Not uncommon and easy to treat, any decent garage ought to be able to do it

Yep, sounds like bacteria in the vents and ducts. Not unusual.

Either get the dealer to treat it or pop down to Halfords and get one of these

If you follow the instructions, they work a treat. Might also be worth finding out if it has a fresh pollen filter fitted.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, it has had a full anti back on the AC system already but didn't make a difference, and hard as my dealership doesnt seem to pick up on the smell even though I think it's really obvious!!

I will definitely ask re the pollen filter fitted though. Any other suggestions would be really appreocated.

Cook it. Max heat for 15 minutes as you drive along (you might need to open the windows)
