Disco 4 Purchase
Discussion
I have decided to upgrade our family bus (Galaxy 08 plate), I have test driven a few cars over the past week, including Jeep Grand Cherokee, New Galaxy (nice but I fancy a change), VW Tourag, Q7 & Disco 4 HSE (2015). Having 3 kids with occasional lift duties means I need 7 seats, the Disco ticks all the boxes. My wife also had a Disco test drive today and she loved it, so I have a GREEN light
I have also tried a SE Tech without the sunroofs and decided I missed the extra light they give, so that will be a min requirement. I am also looking at the later, lower car tax bracket versions to help keep running costs down.
So I have narrowed it down to a SE TECH with sunroof or a HSE late 2013 onwards, budget is circa £40k or lower if possibe.
Anyone have any recomedations on who to buy from, with good experiences in the south of England, although I will travel further for the right car.
Cheers,

When I bought mine last Autumn, had all intentions of getting a used car from a Dealer, which comes with 2 year warranty etc etc, just for piece of mind. The LR website gives a reasonable search engine for examples that are for sale across the LR dealer network.
But when I was investigating what to look for, options etc, I used the Disco3.co.uk web forum (dont be fooled, lots of D4 users on there) -loads of useful info. There is a 'for sale' section and a suitable car came up for sale. Spoke to the seller, it had a few months of warranty left, did a bit of 'stalking' to check on the provenance of the seller and car - ended up buying it. Glad I did, they seller was a Disco freak (and not talking dancing!) and clearly looked after his D4 like I used to look after my Tamora (you will know what I mean), car has been great, really enjoy it - huge contrast to the TVR obviously. Off for some Off Road training later today

Thanks for the tip, I will check that site out. I've also been looking at HSE 2012 onwards with the 8 speed box, as they're around 7-10k cheaper, (which will easily cover my new Tam interior) the only difference seems to be the older lights and the slight improvement in economy. Will post some links up later, however they don't seem to hang around for long!
How do you find yours? Any options you had to have, but turned out to be things you don't use very often? Thinking the surround camera system for example?
Cheers Jon

I bought a brand new D4 HSE Lux a year ago with every option box ticked, so my advice is this:
The sunroof is a must as it makes for a very airy interior, particularly if you go for black inside.
Surround cameras are useful in tight situations but it is so boxy it is easy to place.
The kids love the rear TVs for obvious reasons.
One thing we use a lot is the remote heater. There is a separate little engine under the bonnet which we run for about 20 mins before going out and it warms the cabin nicely.
The fixed sidesteps look a bit clunky but are essential to help kids climb in and out. They also have the benefit of protecting your car from parking dings if you park the car in off road height mode.
We average 26mpg which is mainly around town.
For your budget I'd go for an 8 speed HSE with as many options as possible. The Ivory and black cabin on ours is very plush and not far off the feel of a FFRR.

Mine had just about everything.
Stuff really glad it has (not sure if these are standard items on an HSE or extras)
- heated steering wheel
- surround cameras (not used much so far, but after my off road course today, can see how they could help)
- Rear View Camera (its standard though I think)
Stuff I could live without
- rear seat entertainment- we occasionally take gran kids out, but even they got bored of it. interface to get it working is a bit clunky.

Thanks for all the replies, this is a bit over budget but if they did a deal I would be interested. Looks like its sat around since Oct as not taxed since then. First owner was landrover for 5000 miles then 2nd owner for 6000 miles in 6 months.
It has most of the extras I like, I wasn't really looking for a white one, but will see what it looks like in the flesh.

any comments etc always useful.

No issues at all buying from them again either. Worth a call, obviously website isnt showing anything but stock is always changing...

This is the one I snapped up
Loving it already, I gave it a quick wash, but a full detail will follow (If I can stop driving it).
Mud flaps will be on tomorrow, what paint do you use on the hubs?
Cheers,
Jon
