Range Rover Sport - Which one? SC, HST, HSE?
Discussion
So looking to get a Range sport - Budget between £14,000 - £17,000.. Any model I should be aiming for? SC, HST or HSE? or avoiding? I read that I should avoid the 2.7 and any reason not to get a 4.4 SC? Why do these seem cheaper than HSE for example. I only do about 8,000 miles a year so not too worried about a extra MPG cost of larger engine.
Whatever floats your boat really...

- IIRC - The Supercharged comes as a minimum of HSE spec.
- Nothing wrong with the 2.7 engine.
- The Supercharged is a 4.2... The 4.4 is NA.
- The HST is essentially a HSE with factory fitted 'bling'.

Just get the newest, lowest mileage you can for your budget. You may find that the 4.2 supercharged petrol offers most VFM as it only came in top trim. Many are turned away by the 18mpg avg, but if thats not a concern, its a great car.
I picked up a 4 yr old HST about 4 years ago, with 30K miles on it, mint, for £29995 from a main dealer. Its been great, now got 85K miles on it, no issues other than consumables to replace.

I'd personally go for the SC or the NA for that money. RRS have held their value quite well and the diesels are usually more expensive. I'd say the SC and the NA are both nicer engines than the 2.7 V6. The V8 diesel is a cracking engine. My old boss had one remapped to 330bhp complete with performance exhaust. Sounded excellent
The 3.6 TDV8 is a great engine but residuals are strong for that. I do minimal miles and ran a 2007 4.2 Supercharged for a while. It was giggly quick. Decent HSE spec and tremendous value given that people are scared off the thirsty petrol engines.
HST are a nice spec level but command a premium and there are a lot of normal HSE's out there being sold as HST so watch out. The HST should have very dark wood interior trim, this is one of the giveaways.
The minimum spec level you should go for is HSE. There are a few SE's out there which are best avoided.

SEs had no Satnav in the RRS, so should definitely be avoided. Instead you got a cubby hole HST are a nice spec level but command a premium and there are a lot of normal HSE's out there being sold as HST so watch out. The HST should have very dark wood interior trim, this is one of the giveaways.
