My Freelander 2 (2010) heater fan is making a noise which suggests the bearings have gone, I believe this is a common problem. I have read somewhere that this fan can be accessed and serviced from the passenger footwell, thereby saving a major strip, can anyone confirm that this can be done and if so how do I go about it.
Many thanks.

Hello,

This isn't a problem I've heard of, but try posting on here http://www.freel2.com/forum/ and see if anyone can help.

Good luck

To change the fan etc you need to remove the wipers and the panel at the bottom of the screen.

Update:- Carried out the lubrication suggestion and the fan appears to be quiet on standard heating system, however, when the air con is operated there is a whine which is pretty loud and the noise rises and falls with the engine revs; this stops when you turn the air con off ( the air con does work although as it is not icy cold I suspect it may need topping up). I am now guessing that there is a problem with the air con motor or pump, as you will have gathered I am not very clued up on these problems so any helpful suggestions are welcome; I guess the alternative is to put my hand in my pocket and consult a specialist.

Thanks.
