Dealer called me today, reckons he will get a disco 5 in the showroom this coming october, and deliveries will be march 17. Asked if id be interested in swopping my 15 plate D4 for a new one.

tempting! bet the deals will be woefull, but wondering what they would value mine at.

Yup. All you need a sprinkling of snow on the ground and prices rise by at least 10%. I deliberately bought my Discovery 3 last month as summer is the cheapest time to buy.

Really looking forward to the seeing the D5. Latest rumors suggest it will be launching with the JLR twin turo four pot. Should upset some of the purists smile

If they keep the weight down (like with the latest RR), that'll probably make for a reasonably sprightly Disco.....

Nothing wrong with a Disco having 4-pots from this purist's point of view (Disco 1 came with the decent 4-cylinder 200/300 tdi and the awful 2.0 Mpi).

hopefully the Disco 5 wont have the hesitation on pulling away that the 3 and 4 has.

EGR blank is meant to solve that.

I recon the D5 will be a monocoque chassis rather than monocoque + ladder chassis. Based on that the D5 should be at least 400Kg lighter.

I expect the D5 with 2.0 twin turbo will be faster than the D4 3.0 - should be nippy with the 3.0 approaching 300bhp (can live in hope, though it will take a while to gather enough pennies for one)

Mpi was fine. More powerful and faster than a Tdi, just less grunty.

It looks like a cut and shut with an RRS front and a Disco Sport rear, to be fair though it's probably a really good car, from what I read it's expensive though, creeping well into RRS territory.

It looks good but it doesn't look like a "Discovery" if that makes sense, too rounded now.
As said it'll probably be great but I can't see these being used in the same manner (that being said people said that about the Disco 4's)

I would let others have the pleasure of owning one of the first few months production of Disco 5.

It is very nicely finished inside, lots of Range Rover part bin stuff as your would imagine (transmission selection panel is exactly the same as a RR, door mirror/windows controls to name but a few).

Still very unsure about the rear and also the fact it is smaller inside than my D4.

The second class seat in the middle of row 2 rules it out for me - how JLR can make something this size without three proper seats across the back baffles me.

That and the £68k cost of matching the spec of my D3 HSE...

You want longer than that. General rule of thumb is try and avoid buying a car in it's first year of production.

Saying, this is LR product and we all know that this will have a long list of issues. I predict that people will rave about it for the first five years whilst they are all in warranty, then after that., we will start to see what they are really like reliability wise.

I personally predict that the electronic seat fold will suffer from lack of use.

Overall I do like the look of this car, but I'm sad that boxy rear end has left us and I struggle to see the links to the D1/2/3 at all even though LR are telling us they are there.

I thought that to but I'm biased as it's my D4 lol. I will not be getting a D5 that's for sure, just hope they don't ruin the next gen RR or RR Sport...
