It was a really nice/interesting experience. It's a 4.5hr trip to the dealer from where I live, so I had been up in the early hours to arrive there and have sufficient time for handover and drive back to miss rush-hour traffic.

When I got there I was immediately whisked out to the workshop where the car was being prepped, they wanted me to see it pre-prep to check-over and make sure I was happy. and They also wanted me to check I was happy with the black badges they were fitting for me as part of the deal.

I was then asked to see the finance guy who said he would match my bank's finance, and because the RV was more it would work out significantly cheaper over the term.

I was then given various small gifts to take home for me and my other half (who was at home looking after the kids).

The car then appeared outside the showroom (where I took the pic), I was talked through all the main controls and functions.

He then showed me how to set up the Land Rover Remote App so it was all linked to the car for tracking and the other things.

I was then told the car would have a full tank of fuel, and they wanted me to drive to the garage with the salesman, to make sure I was happy the car/controls before I set off on the long journey home.

So all in all it was good. My only gripe is it's now Thursday and they still haven't cleared the finance on my p/x.

Picked mine up on Monday, so far so good, I'm very pleased! The 5hr drive back across a variety of road types demonstrated what an incredibly capable/versatile car the RRS is, all whilst returning 40mpg! A pic I took at hand-over...

Very nice kmpowell and congratulations on a different colour choice makes a nice change from all the grey , blacks out there.

Interesting thread, currently considering a Range Rover - initially thought I would go straight in for a Vogue Autobiography but not entirely ruling out a Sport. To those who have driven both, is the difference between the V6 and the V8 more pronounced in the Vogue than the feedback in this thread seems to suggest it is in the Sport? General gist from peoples comments seems to be the V6 (specially in 306 hp format) is fine in a sport, would like to know if the same applies to a Vogue. Going to try and test drive both back to back at some point but I find it hard to tell from a 10 minute drive around the block what it might be like to live with!

Would also like to hear any opinions from anyone who has made the move from or into a Cayenne as thats the other option!

Looks like Farnells came up trumps. thumbup

Intereting they beat Lloyds on the finance, why can't they just sort from the get go. I'm just financing the balloon on mine and the RV with Lloyds or LRFS were within a few hundred £. Who is your finance through?

My collection consisted of a car parked in a cramped car lot, out back and not even washed since leaving the factory. (I did ask them not to prep it as I'm going to get it professionally detailed, but a gentle wash would have been nice!) amd they forgot to order my wifes flowers....

Anyway, dealership facilities are woefully inadequate, but their all new showroom is opening next year and can't come soon enough....

Yes it was a bit frustrating, I said it would have been a lot easier if they'd have just matched it from the outset.

LRFS is funded by BlackHorse, who I've gone through. They couldn't match the APR like for like, but the RV with LRFS was £2200 more, so that along with a slight drop in the APR to just over 5.5% meant it equated to the same over the term.

I guess it was a simple decision for them, match what I had through the bank or lose the opportunity to make £7k in interest over the 3year term.

Some great cars pictured. Love the car in red as pictured above. In answer to the original question my wife has the 4.4 TDV8 and when it needed some work we had the V6 as a courtesy car for a week. Whilst I found the V6 to be slightly noisier I couldn't perceive any difference in performance between the two cars (indeed after first driving the V6 I opened up the bonnet to check that which car it was since it didn't feel any different to the V8). We'll not be spending the extra money on the V8 car next time round.
