Hi

Thinking of buying one of these...budget is anywhere between 20-30k...which year/mileage should I get so as depreciation is minimal, and still to enjoy a relatively modern model. In this bracket there are over 700 for sale on autotrader- so surely room for price negotiation aswell

What year/mileage would u go for!? How much is it now and how much will it be worth in 3 years? Thx

In my opinion the sweet spot would be a 2009/2010 facelift model with the TDV8 engine and towbar signed off as safe from JLR

I've got a 2011 3.0. Pretty hard to fault, belted down to the Alps last winter fully loaded and turned in 30mpg. A great tow-car and puts up with just about everything Mrs LFB can throw at it. Tried 3.6's as well at the time, for me not much to choose between them and ended up buying on condition (and the fact it wasn't black!smile)

I'd say you'll lose around 50% on a 30k MY12 car over 3 years. As you say plenty of them about.

Id get a top spec 5.0 V8 supercharged petrol that has already depreciated massively and enjoy 500 odd bhp whilst you can, before they are banned....at least thats what I would do with a £30k RRS budget now smile

Last time I changed I bought one of the last 4.2V8 HST before the facelift, at 4 years old under £30k with less than 30k miles on it. Now done 90k miles with few issues other than a wheel bearing and bonnet catch.

Oh! I love that colour. Unfortunately my Sport goes off road from time to time and a dark colour would show up the scratches.
Likewise I have a 3.0 TDV6 and having done around 10K, in the last year including towing a Defender across the country from Bristol back to Norfolk. I've never felt that it lacked power. I went for a very low mileage SE as opposed to an average mileage HSE as I don't need the extras and am not likely to be changing it anytime soon.

Ha, it's fondly known as Horse and Hound Green in our house! We did hunt out one with the black interior though so not the full ensemble!

You're right about the scratches, where we live the lanes are a bit tight and the nearside suffers a bit. Silver is a good call but we already had two in that colour and a third would have been a bit much.

+ 1.

Facelift interior is such an improvement, and with the TDV8 you get all the HSE options. Really pleased with the car.
